Hi,
while working real hard on my framework I noticed several things that
could be improved or are simply missing in the current release
regarding external items. Some of these things are reported years
back, some of them are "new". So here are my most wanted two topics,
pls. sign on, if you think it's worth.
* External Code: Make internal option ( sjxcnrar from 2003-06)
In addition to the original poster of this feedpack entry I think it
would be very handy, to have an option in the context menu of a rb-
folder in the IDE to "make all externals internal", or if this is too
hard, add a menu entry "Make all externals internals" for the whole
project.
While working on an app, it's perfect to use externals, but once this
specific app is deployed in this version to the client(s), it's
necessary to archive a complete deployed version for debugging, ...
and both archiving all
externals together with the project or manually re-import all
externals as internals is a good way to produce error.
* External "Folder" Item ( ddjtdxye )
I want to add a complete folder on the disc as an external item, so
that all RB-externals in this folder are added to RB. BUT furthermore
the next time this project is opened, RB synchronies the external
items in the (project-) folder with the items in (disc-) folder.
E.g. during the last days I modified and added a lot of qualifier-
classes, all externals, to one project. When now opening another
project, which contains the "qualifier-folder" too, than I need to
check manually and even worser I'm forced to remember, that I used
this "folder" in this specific project.
Several projects multiplied with different versions (at least two)
and about hundred externals organized in different "frameworks"
produces a nice amount of unnecessary work to keep actual.
Of course REAL RB-Frameworks will be a better solution.
Btw. what is the best way to change several hundreds externals from
rbo to xml-format????
