I don't know that this is very authentic--I've never seen a rice pudding
recipe like it. But it makes the best I've ever had.

Maple Rice Pudding

1/3 cup     short-grain brown rice
2 1/2 Tbsp maple syrup
dash      salt
1/2 cup     raisins
1 tsp     vanilla extract
4 cup       milk
3 cup       water
splash    brandy
          heavy cream

Combine all the ingredients except the brandy and cream in a large
shallow baking pan.
Bake at 325F for 2 1/2 - 3 hours, stirring occasionally, mixing in the
brown skin that will form. About 20 minutes before you think it will be
done, stir in the brandy.
Remove from oven while still definitely soft and loose; it will thicken
as it cools.
Serve with heavy cream.
