Smothered Chicken & Tomatoes

2 T. oil
2 1/2 to 3 pounds chicken, cut into serving  pieces
1 can whole peeled tomatoes, undrained and chopped, 14.5 oz
1  envelop Lipton onion soup mix
1/3 cup water

In large skillet, heat oil  and brown chicken over medium high heat; drain. 
Add tomatoes, then onion soup  mix blended with water. Simmer covered, 
stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes or  until chicken is done. Makes about 4 
servings.
