Hello, I'm David and I'm receiving the folloiwng error trying tom mount shares using LinNeighborhood: smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (500,500) smbmnt failed: 1. Can someone interpret this and tell me how to fix this issue? I'm running RedHat 9 and attempting to mount a an XP share, which was working fine before I upgraded to X2 desktop. Thanks.
Perhaps you also applied the samba errata at about that time...
su - root chmod u+s /usr/bin/smbmnt chmod u+s /usr/bin/smbumount
Those two binaries must by SUID-root in order for normal users to mount directories.
