You can TX on both bands at the same time through a diplexer. It does not matter as long as you don't go over the rated Max power for the two. I have run 50watts on both bands through a diamond diplexer without any problems (was using two single band radios) This was then fed into a dual-band diamond antenna. Easy way to get up and running.
