On Red Hat 5.7 I am trying to set uid for an oracle executable. However
it doesn't seem to be taking.

# ll oradism
-rwxr-x--- 1 root root 71758 Sep 17 2011 oradism
# chmod -v 4750 oradism
mode of `oradism' retained as 4750 (rwsr-x---)
# ll oradism
-rwxr-x--- 1 root root 71758 Sep 17 2011 oradism

Is there a trick to getting this set?

Is the filesystem mounted nosuid? I'd also check to see if selinux is blocking you.
