Okay. Well, running 'rkhunter --update' here (about 2 mins ago) worked
with no problems, so it's not a SourceForge problem. I would suspect
that it is something local to your site or your server/PC. If you have a
local firewall it may be blocking outbound web access. If you try:

  telnet rkhunter.sourceforge.net 80

from the command-line does that work? In my case I get:

  {john}27: telnet rkhunter.sourceforge.net 80
  Trying 66.35.250.209...
  Connected to rkhunter.sourceforge.net.
  Escape character is '^]'.
  ^]
  telnet> quit
  Connection closed.
