Okay I'll file the bug and we'll see what they can do.l I thought there was a
gtk interface library that qt could use but I don't remember the name of it.

  Hi,
No I haven't. I have been on the #rockbox IRC chanel but not filed a bug or
anything. So it would be great if you could file the bug and make it high
priority. One thing that may slow down the RB utility compatibility with Orca
is it is written in QT I think and Orca doesn't work at all with QT
applications. It may start working in the future when QT starts to use at-spi,
but there is no clear time for when that will start happening. So, the whole
utility would have to be written over in a different language, maybe with a GTK
interface. I got a player for my birthday with Rockbox pre-installed, and had
to come up with some way to put .talk clips on it. So I wrote the scripts. They
work well, I am just missing the ability to make the player use the same voice
for everything. I can generate .talk files using Cepstral, Espeak, Festival,
and the new pico-svox voices. Voices are easy to add so long as they have a wav
generation capability. If I can get these bash tools working well enough to
release to the public it would make the wait for the RB utility to be rewritten
or for Orca and QT to start playing nicely together easier.
  Thanks
  Storm

    Hey Storm,

Have you told the Rockbox guys about the fact that the utility does not
work with Orca? I am on both the Rockbox-dev and Rockbox regular lists and I
can also put a flyspray bug up there and try to make it a high priority.

Subject: Creating a Bash script to generate en.voice

      Hi,
I am working on a set of scripts for Linux to handle voice generation for
Rockbox. I have a script that can create .talk files for directories and files.
the only thing that is missing is a file to create speech for the menus etc. I
downloaded the RB source and read through the perl scripts, but I don't have
much experience with perl and got lost rather quickly.
The reason I am trying to get all of this functionality in to bash
scripts is because the Rockbox utility does not work with Orca, the screen
reader for Linux. Also, it is rather nice to have the ability to generate .talk
files in the right click menu.
So, my question is, to create the menus and general speech clips, is it
just one filewith all the clips in a specific order? Do I need to create the
en.lang file too, or can I just use the one that already comes with it? Oh,
also, if I do just have to create one file in specific order, where can I find
a list of words in the specific order that should be used?
      Thanks for any help
      Storm
