On my gentoo system as of 2004-07-31, rg 0.9.9 compiled succesfully, but I seem to have hit exactly the right moment to compile, as there are constant reports about failure on the gentoo bugtracker, for the detailed error output see http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58992
