I am here to encourage and support your efforts to improve Rosegarden, not to stand in your way. I am really excited that you showed up, and I am impressed with your work so far. However, I have to insist on a formal discussion before allowing any changes to keyboard modifiers. You jumped on the Shift conflict, and created a Control conflict in its place. You tried to resolve the Control conflict by using the Alt modifier, forgetting that Alt by itself is not reliable on Linux. We stumbled through all of this years ago, and the present control scheme is the imperfect but time-tested result. If we are to change this modifier scheme, we need to take a deep breath and go about it in an organized and methodical way. Are you trying to fix this because it looks broken on paper, or because it causes you real problems in your use of Rosegarden? -- D.
