How the user should indicate staffs that should be bracketed is a tricky problem, I think, from the GUI point of view. The fact that I haven't come up with a nice clean way for the user to do it is the sole reason that brackets are not yet implemented in Rosegarden. The same is true to an extent of repeats (in notation).
Both of these are high priorities for 1.0, and therefore will need to be among the first things I do after 0.9.7 is out (when I'll be concentrating on notation again for a while). Unless anyone comes up with a much nicer, easily implementable idea, I might just use a Rosegarden-2.1-style "bracket with next track / unbracket" pair of menu functions in the notation view, which is unattractive and un-visual and may cause confusion if there are staffs shown that are not from consecutive tracks... I don't quite know. Either way, as soon as we have a way to represent these then I'll happily use that as a condition for coding them into the LIlypond output.
