I vote none of the above. It's all too useful to hide, and we have to get it all into the stacked mode somehow. Tabs suck. I could find a better compromise between what I can and can't see if I had a scrollbar, because I usually want two out of these three, but seldom all three at once. If it's a scrollbar with some "show extra" thing, then I don't think everyone affected could ever agree what is "extra" and what is not. It just depends on what you're using Rosegarden for which of these is most important to you. If I'm recording live MIDI performances, I probably don't give a rat's ass about the notation-related track parameters, except maybe color. If I'm doing hand entered or step recorded notation, then I don't give a rat's ass about all the extra MIDI TPB diddling controls, and only care in passing about the IPB. If I'm just recording audio, I'm probably already using Ardour, so I don't think we have too much to worry about in the audio-only category. It's more of a MIDI vs. notation divide. Keeping everyone happy is the whole problem, and I'm an example of an everyone on all sides of the keeping happy thing, because I use Rosegarden for different purposes at different times, and no one "hide this" compromise is even going to satisfy me, let alone all of our users. -- D.
