Yes the cover opens and closes. Thanks for the compliment on the smoke box
color. Did you noticed the difference in shine on the loco. The idea was for a
great shine and then weather it back. There is no dull coat on the loco. The
egg shell appearance on the top is from the thee smoke colors blended and
layered.
