For anyone following along, I figured out what the problem was. If you're specifying domain users (at least in my case) you have to include the domain name when defining access rights: example: [shared] comment = shared files path = /tmp/shares/testshare valid users = mydomain\test, +mydomain\testers read only = no browseable = Yes This is the first time I've used Samba and authenticated against domain users... but I don't remember reading this anywhere, so I thought I'd spread the info.
