Why not just set "repository = /some/path/that/isnt/shared/recycle" (note the absolute path), same effect, no messing with symlinks.
I didn't, because I didn't know this was possible. :-)
Anyway, I have /recycle/ in my veto files, so nobody can follow that symlink.
