Thanks for the fossology links. I better understand what it looks like now (I also watched the videos). And I still think we need our own tool. Fossology is doing 20% of the job extremely well (license data mining), while I'd rather get a tool that does 90% of the job in the common case (check missing licenses, check missing copyright notices, report common cases of incompatibility, report missing README file describing binary files licenses, report wrong FSF adress, report "GNU" in the name of a non-GNU project, etc.). The UI is also pretty different. Fossology is a web interface to make queries about a project. Savannah needs a lintian-like tool to automatically produce a report about a submitted project. Maybe there's things about fossology that I missed, so I suggest you review a few Savannah projects and see for yourself in which way this tool helps and in which way it doesn't. -- Sylvain
