Research Assistant: The University of California Santa Barbara has an opening for a research technician. Requirements: BS, Lab Technologist, Lab Technician or comparable skills and experience. Good manual dexterity skills, attention to detail, ability to work to a high degree of accuracy. Good communication skills, organizational skills and comfortable working in a technology oriented environment. Knowledge of aseptic technique and cell culture techniques is a plus. The Biological Nanostructures Laboratory at the California Nanosystems Institute / University of California Santa Barbara is a multiuser research laboratory working with Biological Nanostructures in a broad sense. One of the focuses is the development of targeted drugs against cancer, more specifically tumor vasculature and tumor initiating cells. Job Description: The successful incumbent will have lab maintenance duties and also carry out research experiments pending additional grant funding. The lab duties include ordering, receiving and inventory of supplies and reagents, keeping logs for recharge purposes, assisting in safety and procedural training classes, responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the state of the art instrumentation. Assays in the fields of cell biology, molecular biology, immunology and experimental oncology will be carried out after training through existing lab members (in conjunction with grant funded research).
