Job offer: 66/2009 Division: Signaling and Functional Genomics Position: Scientific Manager Description: The German Cancer Research Center is a member in the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers and performs research in the areas of basic and translational cancer biology. The institute has strong interactions with Heidelberg University and other research institutions in the Rhein-Neckar area. We offer an international and dynamic work environment, access to a broad range of continuing education courses and the possibility to contribute to projects at the frontier of cancer research. The Division of Signaling and Functional Genomics at the German Cancer Research Center in Hei-delberg provides and develops cutting edge techniques for genome-wide RNA interference screenings and is involved in diverse international and national research networks. For our high-throughput plat-form we are seeking applications for a research scientist to perform large-scale RNAi and compound screens in collaboration with internal and external partners. Tasks include data analysis and the de-velopment of new cell-based assays, such as assays by imaging and deep-sequencing. The success-ful applicant will support on-going large-scale experiments and independently develop new screening and analysis protocols. By participation in national and international research consortia, the applicant is expected to contribute to the scientific advancement in the high-throughput biology field. Job profile: We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills. You have an aca-demic degree (Ph. D.) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related field. You should have expe-rience in molecular and cell biology and cell culture work. Knowledge in high-throughput screening and data analysis is an advantage. The position further requires organizational qualifications and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external collaborators. You should be able to work independently and have excellent team working skills. As you will be working in an international envi-ronment, an excellent command of English (written and oral) is essential.
