Postdoctoral Position in Immunology/Infectious Diseases
A postdoctoral position is available to study Influenza A- host protein
interactions and their implications for influenza biology and disease. Affinity
purification of pathogenic influenza proteins from virus infected cells,
followed by quantitative mass spectrometry (MS) is used to define
virus-mediated protein complexes. Novel host proteins identified will be
characterized in respect to their roles in Influenza biology and pathogenesis.
Long term goal is the development of novel therapeutic strategies based on
defined protein interaction domains.
The project provides an ideal opportunity for fellows who are interested, 1.,
in identifying novel pathogen-host interactions, embarking on cutting edge
technologies, such as quantitative MS-based proteomics and 2., studying in
detail the role of identified host proteins for virus replication and the host
immune response.
Requirements:
* PhD and/or MD degree in Biochemistry, Biology or Immunology.
* Experience in protein purification, cell culture and molecular biology is
desirable.
