European Business School (EBS) is the oldest private business school in 
Germany. EBS delivers undergraduate and graduate education in international 
management and offers a variety of specialized
programmes taught in English. EBS is consistently ranked among the top business 
schools in Germany and actively cooperates with numerous renowned partner 
universities around the world. EBS employs 45 full-time and 12 international 
adjunct faculty and embraces five academic departments. 900 undergraduate and 
graduate students are currently enrolled at EBS. 
The school’s Supply Chain Management Institute (SMI) is dedicated to 
outstanding research and education in Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain 
Management. SMI consists of more than 50 researchers located in
Germany, India, and China.
In the course of its dynamic expansion in the area of Logistics and Supply 
Chain Management, the Supply Chain Management Institute collaborates with 
Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Russian Railways
(RZD). On behalf of the railway companies, the Graduate School of Management at 
St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg State Transport University and 
SMI will establish the “Center for
International Logistics and Supply Chain Management by DB and RZD” in St. 
Petersburg. The Center will be based at the Graduate School of Management at 
St. Petersburg State University.
The significance and need for transport and logistics between European and 
Russian markets is growing steadily. In order to cope with the corresponding 
challenges in this area, the quality and
competitiveness of transport and logistics need to be improved cross-borders. 
Since education and research play an important role, a close academic 
cooperation will be set up between EBS’s Supply
Chain Management Institute and the Graduate School of Management at St. 
Petersburg State University and Petersburg State Transport University. The 
Center will consist of 9 researchers and
administrative staff in total.
To head the new center, EBS is seeking to appoint a faculty member as
Chaired Professor in International Logistics and Supply Chain Management
The Chaired Professor will have full strategic and administrative 
responsibility for the center and will coordinate its activities with DB and 
RZD and all academic partners. S/he will be in charge of building and nurturing 
the academic profile of the center, both in Russia and on an international 
level. In addition, s/he will be responsible for developing a joint research 
agenda with DB and RZD, and will also be required to develop and implement the 
center’s teaching strategy with respect to undergraduate, graduate and 
executive programs. The Chaired Professor will be expected to teach in
the Graduate School of Management at St. Petersburg State University
Applicants are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Academic excellence, demonstrated through a strong record of publications in 
international peer-reviewed journals
- Industry experience in logistics/supply chain management
- Experience in teaching graduate and executive programs in logistics, supply 
chain management and related fields
- English and Russian language proficiency
- Strategic thinking and leadership skills
- Strong and convincing personality
- Outstanding communication skills
The position is available at the earliest possible date and will remain vacant 
until filled. The selection committee will start reviewing applications from
