The Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre (BiK-F) has recently been founded by the Senckenbergische Gesellschaft für Naturforschung, the Goethe University in Frankfurt, and additional partners. It is funded by the Hessian State Initiative for the Development of Scientific and Economic Excellence (LOEWE). It has strong interactions with the Goethe University in Frankfurt, the Senckenberg Research Institute and other research institutions in the Rhein-Main area and offers an excellent international and multidisciplinary research environment. The mission of the Centre is to carry out internationally outstanding research on the interactions of biodiversity and climate change at the organismic level. At the Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre the application deadline of the following position has been extended until October 31st, 2009 (all former applications are still valid and under consideration and do not need to be repeated): Full Professorship for Molecular and Experimental Evolutionary Biology (#C01) The candidate is expected to conduct experimental research, either in the field, in mesocosm systems or on a laboratory scale. He/She shall develop and apply ecological and evolutionary methods and concepts to analyse the effects of climate change on plant (preferentially) or/and animal populations as well as on biological communities. A thorough knowledge and expertise in ecological and evolutionary genetics as well as a conceptual integration into the Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre is required. Requirements include a strong track record in peer-reviewed publications and the demonstration of having acquired substantial external funding for research. Collaborations with other research groups at the newly established Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre, as well as with its partners at the University of Frankfurt and the Research Institute Senckenberg, are expected. In addition, the applicants will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching at the Goethe University in Frankfurt.
