You may recall I installed SL5 last month and asked here about additional RPMS or updates. Basically, my vision is that I want my systems to stay on the slow, conservative track for the kernel and glibc and foundation libraries like tcl/tk, but I want up-to-date versions of programs like
R firefox thunderbird unison tetex (or possibly TexLive) lyx texmaker Emacs Emacs-ess Swarm (agent-based simulation library) Nvidia proprietary driver (I prefer the way livna packages this, so I've followed their strategy) gambit (a game theory modeling tool) ggobi (a data exploration tool) I want these things to stay up to date because I dual boot a system with Fedora 8 and I don't want to see the huge drop off in functionality when I go from F8 to SL5. If you don't upgrade to R-2.6, you can't install many of the available packages in CRAN. That's a big problem here. I'm taking the SRPMs from Fedora 8 and making necessary changes to build against libraries in SL5. I've created a repository. You are free to use these if you want, just let me know if things don't work for you and I'll fix. I'm never going to try to build everything like some other repositories try to do. I'm just dedicating to building the user-end applications that we use here on an hourly basis. I did not yet apply a PGP key to these RPMS, but will do that soon. Maybe for now, you can trust me?
