[1] "IBM jumps into grid computing"
The iSeries won't be left behind when IBM creates a grid of
computers for the British government. The platform's
manageability, ability to consolidate and handle multiple
workloads and low total cost of ownership will make it a
good candidate for the grid, IBM said. The only features
the iSeries needs are Globus protocols, which IBM plans to
add to all platforms.

[2] "The future of enterprise Linux"
Four analysts give their takes on Linux in the enterprise
in this ZDNet feature. To some, Linux offers companies a
true alternative to Windows NT and 2000. Others still
ponder whether the development of Linux will encroach on
cousin Unix's domain.

[3] "IBM's big thinker"
So why is IBM spending so much time and money on Linux?
Isn't open-source software a wild departure for the
company? What's up with IBM's grid computing imitative?
CNET asked Big Blue's Irving Wladawsky-Berger, vice
president of technology and strategy in the IBM Server
Group, just such questions in this Q&A.

"AOL CD protest takes off"
An organized effort is under way to rid the world of those
annoying AOL software CDs that clog your snail-mailbox on a
weekly basis. Citing "needless pollution" caused by the
disks, a group of eco-aware Internet users put together a
Web site called nomoreaolcds.com at the start of this month
with the stated goal of collecting 1 million disks. Once
collected, they plan to pollute the front lawn of AOL's
U.S. headquarters with them. More than 20 days into their
campaign, the site said it has collected 25 disks. At this
rate, AOL will have a major cleanup on its hands in just
under 3,000 years.
