Getting a ride in London may be a good way to check out the latest electronic equipment. A survey showed that in the first half of this year, taxi riders left 2,900 laptops and 1,300 handhelds in the back seats of London cabs. The cabbies, driven by honesty and knowing how to play "fare," returned 93% of the laptops and 85% of the PDAs to their owners. (The rest went unclaimed.) Of the 62,000 cell phones left behind, only half of the owners claimed them. Some other "forgotten" items included a cat, a suitcase full of diamonds and a small girl.
