hi guys we have 4200 members who have bouncing email addresses. that makes this list a sum total of 7000 members!! not bad!! unfortunately, of the 7000 odd subscribers, just about 2800 members have emails boxes that do not bounce emails!! no wonder, i keep getting mails in private from subscribers saying that they are not receiving mails and asking for help often, many of us forget to clean our email boxes and the end result is that mails sent by to that particular address starts getting rejected. to set matters rights you have to log on to your yahoogroups page at http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups if the mails are bouncing and if you are not getting your emails regularly, you will most probaly notice a message on the top saying-Alert! You have 1 bouncing email addresses ETC. click on that link and follow the instructions and it will tell you how to unbounce your email address the simplest thing to do is to just delete emails that are of no use to you. each email box has just about 4-5 mb of storage space and once you exceed that space, emails sent to your inbox will start bouncing so if you have not cleaned your mail box recently, do it NOW. and yes, clean it up 1-2 a week to be on the safe side regards moderator Yahoo! You have the option of 1) getting your mails in digest form (however you will not be able to see the pictures in this format) Daily digest ... once or twice a day, you will receive an email -- text only -- listing all new postings ... just click on the messages link at the top of the digest to go to the web archive to see any attachments.) 2) or you can view mails directly on the web... and choose the option ... you can see what's new on the website and still keep a clear mailbox. You will never receive mail from us if you do that. YOU choose when to visit us ... and you can check out what you like and can skip over what doesn't interest you. 3)no email option I hope this helps. There was once this guy who is very much in love with his girl. This romantic guy folded 1,000 pieces of paper-cranes as a gift to his girl. Although, at that time he was just a small fry in his company, his future doesnt seem too bright, they were very happy together. Until one day, his girl told him she was going to Paris and will never come back. She also told him that she could not visualize any future for both of them, so they went their own ways there and then... heartbroken, the guy agreed. But when he regain his confidence, he worked hard day and night, slogging his body and mind just to make something out of himself. Finally with all these hard works and the help of friends, this guy had set up his own company ... You never fail until you stop trying. One rainy day, while this guy was driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain walking to some destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didnt take him long to realize those were his girls parents. With a heart in getting back at them, he drive slowly beside the couple, wanting them to spot him in his luxury Sedan. He wanted them to know that he wasnt the same anymore. He had his own company, car, condo, etc. He made it! Before the guy can realize, the couple was walking towards a cemetery, and he got out of his car and followed...and he saw his girl, a photograph of her smiling sweetly as ever at him from her tombstone and he saw his paper-cranes beside her! Her parents saw him. He asked them why had this happened. They explained, she did not leave for France at all. She was ill with cancer. She had believed that he will make it someday, but she did not want to be his obstacle... therefore she had chosen to leave him. Just because someone doesnt love you the way you want her to, doesnt mean they dont love you with all they have. She had wanted her parents to put his paper-cranes beside her, because, if the day comes when fate brings him to her again...he can take some of those back with him. Once you have loved, you will always love. For whats in your mind may escape but, whats in your heart will remain for- ever. The guy just wept. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside her knowing you cant have her. I remember one similar message given by Lord Krishna to Yuthisthira in Mahabharata ,when Yuthisthira asked,What is the most surprising in world ? The All Knowing One answered,Everyone knows he/she will die one day,but behave as if no death is existing for him/her ! I read that quote just a little while ago I don't really know why but it got to me I've spent, seemingly every day of my life living for tomorrow. Planning for the future. The next morning, the cowboy returned, placed his order, and then that evening he was served the one and only special delicacy of the day. I'm totally over the 'metrosexuality' thing...I want a 'guy'...a 'man'...someone real, sweet, kind, intellectual, and with a few flaws here and there that make him human. Sri Lanka gays and 'sadists' battle to change law Colombo 04 July 2004 09:29 Sex between men is a criminal offence in Sri Lanka and lesbianism has been officially labelled sadism, but the island's gays believe their long fight for equality is picking up pace amid regional moves to legalise homosexuality. Sri Lanka's penal code, a legacy from British colonial rulers, makes sex between consenting men punishable by 12 years in jail, although the law is rarely enforced. The main gay rights group here, Companions on a Journey, said Sri Lanka's turbulent politics has left activists and authorities groping for a solution to the issue of gay rights. We engage the minister of justice in a discussion one evening and the next morning he is out [of office], Companions director Sherman de Rose said, referring to the sudden sackings of two governments in the past three years. The gay community in Sri Lanka is now awaiting the outcome of a similar campaign in neighbouring India, whose courts are reviewing laws against homosexuality that were also introduced by the British in the 19th century. What happens in India can have an impact on us, said de Rose, a 32- year-old former Roman Catholic trainee priest. We could use the Indian example to strengthen our case. There is similar action in Bangladesh and Pakistan, he said. Shifting from individual lobbying, the Companions are inviting key decision-makers to a face-to-face meeting next month to thrash out differences over the status of homosexuality in the Buddhist- majority island. The Companions are also working with the private Centre for Policy Alternatives in Sri Lanka for legal and legislative advice on changing the penal code. De Rose said nearly 7 000 gay men and women have made contact with his rights group since it was started nearly nine years ago. About 1 800 have taken full-time membership. Hundreds gathered at a lake resort in Sri Lanka in March for an annual gay celebration with day-long festivities, including the selection of a drag queen. The Companions say many more Sri Lankans are waiting to come out of the closet. Officials of the attorney general's department argue that they have not prosecuted anyone under the anti-gay laws in recent decades, making the campaign to have the penal code repealed superfluous. However, Sri Lanka's Press Council in a landmark ruling four years ago held that a letter to the editor published in a newspaper calling for convicted rapists to be unleashed on lesbians was in the larger interest of the community. The council said that De Rose, who filed a public-interest complaint against the offending newspaper, had no standing in the case as he was male and arguably would have no knowledge of lesbianism. Hello Moderator, No doubt this is a great group and deserves the number of subscribers it has got. But I think your assumption of the group having a total of 7000 subscribers is wrong. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the figures that shows on the homepage of the group is the correct figure and it includes those members who have bouncing emails. That would make this group's subscription level to 3300+ and not 7000. I hope this group continues to grow in size and in its reach. Keep up the good work. Aspirin = thanks for your words of encouragement. well, the bouncing members are not reflected on the home page. as of today we have 4432 members who are on bouncing email list and 3360 whose mails are not bouncing. if you are a moderator of any yahoo group, kindly go to members section and within that you will see a sub-head called bouncing . please download the list and tally it with your non-bouncing (ordinary) members. they are different from the members that do not have bouncing email address I am not terribly enamored by numbers because the numbers oscillate by 300-400 (at least on this group) now and then. the email that you have quoted was written with the intent of making subscribers aware that they could be having mail box that had exceeded their given storage. i wrote that in response to emails that complained of not receiving their emails from this group with arrival of gmail( i noticed that you have one) and with yahoo and hotmail hiking their storage capacity, members would be able to keep their mails.. and junk mails for a long long time regards moderator Yahoo!
