Re: [ql-users] MultiDiscover and a CD ROM
Rich, The check that is done to try and recognise if a Qubide is present is to look through the physical device definition blocks for the one that has "WIN0" as the physical device name, and then at offset $110 within the block it looks for a string of the form "n.nn" where 'n' can be any numeric character. This worked fine on QL based systems, but I have no idea if this check would be valid on an Aurora system? If not and a different check can be identified it would be easy enough to change the check routine in Discover. Re: [ql-users] MultiDiscover and a CD ROM
1. Is it a registered multi-discover (in case it's an option not available on the theoretically freeware Discovers which you still have to register at no charge to get full functionality) 2. Is the CD a PC CD or a QXL.WIN CD? 3. The Qubide has to be a recent version, able to read "alien" disks. The facility to read DOS formatted cartridges was introduced in v1.53 but I don't know if CD-ROM access was also introduced at that version or later (V2.00 ROMs needed upgrade of 2 GAL chips on the Qubide, don't know exactly what the changes to those chips did to the Qubide). 4. Might be worth checking if Thierry's ATAPI drivers will let you access IDE CD drives on Qubide, though you might need programs like QCDEZE or QXLWIN to fully use it. Dave Walker does lurk on this list, hopefully he'll pop up with an answer specific to Discover. -- Dilwyn Jones - Original Message - From: "Rich Mellor" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, October 17, 2006 7:10 PM Subject: [ql-users] MultiDiscover and a CD ROM > Whilst trying out this system for a customer, he asked me to install > a CD > ROM for use with the system (through Multidiscover as he has a Super > Gold > Card + Aurora + smsq/e). > > Aurora recognises the CD ROM correctly, but if I fire up the latest > Multidiscover (CD version), the option for CD-ROM access is greyed > out. Re: [ql-users] MultiDiscover and a CD ROM
CDROM access was shareware with multidisk over. I expect you need to register your copy even if it is not still shareware Duncan ___ QL-Users Mailing List http://www.q-v-d.demon.co.uk/smsqe.htm
[ql-users] MultiDiscover and a CD ROM
Whilst trying out this system for a customer, he asked me to install a CD ROM for use with the system (through Multidiscover as he has a Super Gold Card + Aurora + smsq/e). Aurora recognises the CD ROM correctly, but if I fire up the latest Multidiscover (CD version), the option for CD-ROM access is greyed out. I am sure Dilwyn could guide me here on how to read something like the QL emulators CD on the Aurora QL system.
