[Unattended] Image file for Floppy Install
I am trying to run the install through the Floppy install. I am having a hard time creating my own image. I have 30 Compaq DL380s and would like to do a network install. If some one could help create this Floppy image as it was done for E100b.img driver. The .img files that were on the website do not work when I create the Floppy with WINIMAGE. I found the dos driver for the NIC. But I did not know how to create the image. Please help. Thanks in advance. --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies. RE : [Unattended] Image file for Floppy Install
Well the floppy images are now compressed in bzip2 format I think, and WinImage cannot open them directly. You will have tu uncompress the image with a tool like 7-zip before you can open it with WinImage. If there is no floppy image for your network card in the unattended distribution, you will have to edit 3 files to make your own image : * replace the whatever.dos driver file in the floppy image with the driver for your network card (it should be called NDIS2 driver or DOS driver on the driver CD that came with your computer) * edit the name of your network card driver in the system.in_ file, it looks like this : NETCARD=E100B.DOS * edit the name of your network card driver in the protocol.ini file, it looks like this : DRIVERNAME = E100B$ Hope this helps. RE: [Unattended] TCPTSR.EXE gives NET0133: IP-Address already in use
Just posting this to help anyone else may have been seeing the hang / error with the DOS TCPTSR.EXE problem. Our problem turned out to be a device on the VLAN that had an incorrect trunking configuration. Our specific setup includes Cisco 6000 and 6500 series catalysts and HP/Compaq BL10e gigabit blade chasis. The incorrect setting on one of 5 blade cabinets was interfering somehow with the DHCP broadcasts, even though neither the DHCP/TFTP server or the client was located in a blade cabinet (both were directly connected to the catalyst switches). I thought this would be a good place to post this, since the way I found out about the unattended project was when I was searching for a solution to this very problem while using the Altiris Deployment Server product. It's similar to a problem I found in the archives here: http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg002 74.h tml but with a twist. I only get the hang when I'm on a specific VLAN on my network. If I change the VLANs of both the DHCP/TFTP server and the target box, I get my DHCP address without any errors. And if you let the hang go long enough (more than 20 minutes) it comes back with the TCPTSR.EXE gives NET0133: IP-Address already in use message. The VLAN in question is my DMZ, so it has things like PIX firewalls and CSS load balancer devices on the same network, but I can't imagine any of them would be causing this problem. Re: [Unattended] Format Confirmation Bypass in 4.0
from install.pl /z:seriously is requied. eg format /y /z:seriously /q /u /a /v: c: as 4.0 is using the format commands and freedos, the switches for this have changed slightly. Hope this helps.
