My version of samba is 2:3.3.2-1ubuntu3 on Ubuntu Server 9.04
I did an SVN checkout of the debian samba package, and the problem is
there as well.
I'm not sure where to post my fix to get this pushed upstream to the
debian package, but the diffs above fix it.

I disagree with the proposal; Ubuntu fixed the testsuite and Debian
didn't, we shouldn't drop our fix. Instead I've mailed the Debian
uploader to recommend using the same fix. I'd love if someone could
please merge the package with the Ubuntu xfvb-run fixes (-s -no-reset).

The xrandr problem appeared after the update from xserver-xorg-video-
intel Version 2:2.7.99.901+git20090630.cec9fc6f-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty
to 2:2.7.99.901+git20090701.1e4784bf-0ubuntu0sarvatt~jaunty.
So 20090630 worked fine. Starting with 20090701, and in all following versions
xrandr doesn't
Also, I did an strace on the python process and saw this:

I confirm this issue too... I've just installed 9.04 and this useful
feature used until yesterday on 8.10 doesn't work anymore.

Yes, this issue still exists in 9.04 with kernel 2.6.28-13
Plus: The all_generic_ide option isn't supported anymore, maybe the generic ide
driver was excluded from the standard kernel build.
