Title:
crashes on Toshiba AC100 (ARM architecture)

Status in Enablement project for the Toshiba AC100 NetBook:
  New
Status in Cheese Camera Application:
  New
Status in “cheese” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After installing Ubuntu 12.04 on a Toshiba AC100 several days ago, as
described at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/TEGRA/AC100 and seeing during
the installation that the OS was able to use the camera (the installer
suggested to make a photo for the first user), I wanted to play with
  the camera.

I couldn't understand how to find a photo booth program in the new-
style menu+desktop (not the classical menu with sections), so I
remembered the popular cheese Linux program, and installed it via
the Software Update tool (or whatever it is called; can be invoked
from the panel on the desktop).

But cheese doesn't start, i.e., it crashes.

As I said, the camera could be used by the OS on this machine -- this
could be seen in the installer.

make sure you didnt accidentially press F9 ... that key is hardwired to
power off the touchpad (nothing you can do against this in software)

2012-08-16 Thread Ivan Zakharyaschev
@marvin24: thanks for your comment!

And what does it mean if there are nvec-related messages in dmesg?

I don't understand what nvec is, and what its relation to the touchpad
is.

[Ac100] [Bug 1035208] Re: touchpad stops working (moving the pointer doesn't work)

2012-08-16 Thread Ivan Zakharyaschev
It just happened right now. I've saved dmesg output and the X's log.
(Attaching them.)

There are no nvec messages in dmesg. But there are two ec messages.
Are they important?

I've checked once again the behavior of the touchpad when this happens:

movements don't work,
but scrolling doe work (at the right side of the pad with a single finger),
clicking does work (by hitting the pad, or with the buttons underneath -- both
work).

I tried to press F9: this turned the tocuhpad competely off. Then I
pressed F9 once again: and this resulted in the same errpneous
situation: movements don't work, other things do work (scrolling,
hitting).

So it's not a matter of F9. And it's not matter of complete
disconnection.

Please tell me:

What to do further to diagnose the source of the error?
