IBM 3581 Autoloader question
Hi all, I need advice with use of IBM3581 7-slot Autolader. As I know it is without barcode reader (in my case), but I think it is optional. Is it possible to use it as library in TSM (I mean mount any volume what I need) or does it only work in sequential (cycle) mode? Does this autoloader have in general changer device in system or not? Many thanks for your comments. Tom

I used a 3581 with TSM 5.1.5 on Windows 2000 during a DR drill a couple years ago. It works adequately well, once we got past setting up the element configurations. It works just like any other automated library, although if you do not have a barcode reader it has to load each tape into the drive to read the label, which makes it rather slow to use, and I would not recommend it other than for low-volume, specialized, or emergency use. Online copypool with LANFREE backup
Hi all, we are now in progress of testing LANFREE backups on TDP R3 on Oracle (AIX) and I found an issue with using in the fly copypool. I would like to storage agent write simultaneous copy of data into copypool (like server does). But when I defined copypool within primary tapepool, where LANFREE client is pointed to, lanfree backup fall into normal LAN backup (of course with simultaneous write to that copypool). So question: is LANFREE agent able to use this feature or not? Thanks for any advice. Tom
Restore Exchange Public Folders
Hi all, I need advice in restore public folders from one Ex2003 server to another (into Recovery Storage Group). I had read in some older thread, that it is possible for Exchange 2003 server with TDP Exchange 5.2.1+. I had tried it, but with no success. Env.: TSM server - Win 2003, TSMS v5.2.0.0 Exchange 2003 with TDP v5.2.1.1 I tried both separate (mailboxes first, then public folders) restore and restore both stores together, but after successful mailbox restore I got this error messages in tdpexc.log: 09/05/2005 11:44:04 Restore of First Storage Group failed. 09/05/2005 11:44:04 ACN5798E MS Exchange API HRESERESTOREADDDATABASE() failed with HRESULT: 0xc7fe1f42 - 09/05/2005 11:44:04 Restore of First Storage Group failed. 09/05/2005 11:44:04 ACN5798E MS Exchange API HRESERESTOREREOPEN() failed with HRESULT: 0xc7ff0bc3 - Do anybody know, what is the problem? I amn not Exchange guru, but out Exchange admin don't know too. Many thanks for any advice. Tom
Integrated Solutions Console
Hi all, we are preparing migration of TSM environment to v5.3 and I had read docs and manuals about new WEB interface (TSM Adminitration Center) and it seems that it needs to have IBM Integrated Solutions Console installed before. We just have no media of TSM 5.3 for now (will be just ordered) so: Q1: Is installation media of Integrated Solutions Console part of TSM 5.3 media pack? (of course, I found it as downloadable pack on IBM WEB, but...) Q2: Must be ISC installed on the same machine as TSM server (TSM Admincenter seems not have to be)? Thanks for advance. Tom
