[Alsa-user] mic not working on latest kernels (AC97)
Hi All, I've tried all I could, I need your help with this. I have an intel ICH5 (AC97) integrated sound card on an i865PERL: 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02) It was working just fine until linux kernel 2.6.20.21. Starting with 2.6.21, the mic is not recording anything anymore. I've the two kernels built with the same configuration, 2.6.20 works, anything above 2.6.21 doesn't. Everything else, like playback on 6 channels and even line-in works fine, only the microphone is silent. According to the changelog of 2.6.21 there were some fixes in the mixer option handling of the AC97 devices which is supposedly made it work. Well, not for me ;) The capture is enabled and volume is up. If I select line-in as capture source, I got the input. If I select the mic, I got silence. I've tried both mic1 and mic2. Got anybody any idea what should I try? Thanks! [Alsa-user] how can i use alsa-lib api to control pcm playback volume.
Hi: i'm doing some develop on a linux system, kernel version: 2.6.23.9. alsa-lib version:1.0.15. now ffmpeg and alsa can work together to playback mp3/aac file. during this step: snd_pcm_open(pcm_handle, default, SND_PCM_STREAM_PLAYBACK, 0); set_params(); //set hw and sw params. while(audio_data) { decode_audio_data(audio_data, data_len); snd_pcm_writei(audio_data. data_len); } and the mp3 playback is ok, now i'm going to add the volume control functions when the sound is playback. but when i read the alsa-lib api funtions reference, i can not clearly know how i can control the pcm volume by alsa-lib functions. and in alsamixer and amixer functions, seems complex to complete the operation. is it has a simple way to control the pcm volume? thanks for any suggestions.- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/___ Alsa-user mailing list Alsa-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user

Re: [Alsa-user] ALSA vs M-Audio fast track ULTRA
Unfortunately MAudio has been not very helpful. I recall when I was trying to get my Maudio-Transit to work ( a cheap but very nice usb audio card) I asked them to confirm that a certain file in their windows distro was the firmware for the card ( the card initialises itself by downloading some firmware onto the card) They wronte back and sais that this was proprietary information-- infomation which it turned out was trivial to obtain from the Windows. I am surprised that they did not tell me that the name of the card was proprietary. My reply was NOT about your card, but the MAudio Transit card I had ( which does work) and was to show that MAudio is not very helpful. Unless they have changed, I would not be very hopeful of MAudio helping. Now, just as Laditch managed to figure out how to load the firmware into the Transit, it may be that someone will figure out how to make your card work. - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/ ___ Alsa-user mailing list Alsa-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
Re: [Alsa-user] ALSA vs M-Audio fast track ULTRA
Hello everyone! I now resigned to not being able to use the m-audio fast track ULTRA usb soundcard with my LINUX-DAWs, someone can recommend another card usb I can afford multitrack audio recordings of quality, which is working with Linux? As said before, my M-Audio Mobile Pre seems class compliant. And otherwise works. My Delta 44 (pci) works too. The Delta worked for several months before they finally came up with Windows Vista drivers. But it doesn't sound like you want another M-Audio. So probably the Lexicon Omega / Alpha type cards might work for you. What type of inputs are you needing? And how many inputs? TRS / XLR / 3.5mm stereo? There's several out there depending on your needs. What's your budget? If you need a lot more inputs at higher rates, then firewire might be better suited. freebob.sf.net HTH, - James - This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100url=/ ___ Alsa-user mailing list Alsa-user@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
