Hi Al

October 23, 2005

LORDS FASTBALL MEDAL FOR NINTH STRAIGHT SEASON

Oshawa – The Durham Lords Women's Collegiate Fastball team took part in the
2005 Ontario College Athletic Association( OCAA ) Women's Fastball
Championships in Hamilton, at Mohawk Sports Park hosted by Mohawk College this
past weekend. On their way to the Championships, the Lords completed their
third straight perfect 12-0 regular season, scoring a total of 113 runs while
allowing opponents just 23 runs scored.

However, the weather shortened Championship was not meant to be for the Lords
from Durham. The ladies amazing 56 game conference winning streak came to an
end on Sunday, following a 7-2 loss to the St. Clair Saints (Windsor) in the
OCAA Gold Medal game. The Lords were certainly dealt a break after yesterday's
game where they trailed St. Clair 11-2 but it was rained out before becoming an
official game and a new 0-0 game was started today. However, the Saints were
too much on this day for the regular season champion Lords who earn the silver
medal, for the school's ninth consecutive medal finish and 18 in 19 seasons.

It was only a matter of time until the streak came to an end. What a streak it
was - 56 consecutive wins, 3 championships plus an Ontario Silver medal -
simply amazing. Congratulations to the Coaching Staff: Jim Nemish, Mal Swift
and Rosemary Theriault and the entire team for an exciting season.
