[amibroker] Re: New Amibroker Version?

2006-09-26 Thread nikkunayar
I bought the program two years ago and I will probably be good for
another year. There is no program that beats AB for value. Period. And
I have used Metastock and a few others.

If the cost of AB is a significant factor in your trading costs, you
are almost certainly undercapitalized.

2006-09-26 Thread Ton Sieverding

Why ? As long as you have these
"invisible"functions included in AFL it should work. Of course the
converter fails when you only have half of the foreign code. When calling a
function within EasyLanguage that does not exist, also EL fails to do it's job
...

So one of the functions of the converter should be
to check for external code ...

It's not a batch job. That's not how it works. You
see a piece of TS, MS, WL etc. code on the internet and would like to check what
it does in AmiBroker. Anconverter then would be a very practical tool. Now
it will cost me half an hour to convert the stuff in AFL. AsI told you

  (dont mind, shall explain why i say weak)Now with all this power
  present in it.. the designer should spend time in devising ways so that
  "fools" and "morons" (like me) can also use with "utter ease".Like
  "Push Button AFL" etc..If this is done,
  this software will not just futher Boom it will
  Zmmm..Lot of people find it good _But_ "very complex". I say this since I
  interact with many. Some examples..For a start How for some
  "fixed" menu item for1. EOD scanning on simple stuff like 18 day higher
  high on 2x volume.2. simple macd scanning. (you know opening auto
  analysis, selecting the right afl and setting time period is "too complex")
  3. How for just give a list of stocks making 52 week high..can
  give a list of 100 such items...plus some easy way to modify such items.
  (for example from 52 weeks to say 40 week high)If the first user can
  see this stuff simply in a menu, he would get sticky with it. cant expect
  fools to learn auto analyis and afls..i say this since i love this

[amibroker] New user

2006-09-26 Thread mandod2000
Would Amibroker enable me to scan Nasdaq stocks on a continuing basis
in 5 minute bars real time?

Something along these lines, for example:

Average Daily Volume for last 20 days XXX
ATR for last twenty days XXX
MA10 MA12 for last X five minute periods
H H of one period ago

If so, could a dual scan (ie, also looking for

Average Daily Volume for last 20 days XXX
ATR for last twenty days XXX
MA10 MA12 for last X five minute periods
L L of one period ago)

be set up and run concurrently?

Assuming any of this was possible, would it require huge amounts of
language ability?

Thanks,

Nick

LOL ... uh huh ... lets see ... that's an EL code converter, FFT's
and a partridge in a pear tree ... all of which could have been
written, tested and implemented by now so precious time isn't

PS ... No form of anything even remotely resembling the grail is to

[amibroker] Scan moving averages crossovers

2006-09-26 Thread kamathsuresh
Hello

I have plotted 5,10 and 15 min moving averages on my intraday charts.
I would like to scan and get a Buy/Sell signal when the 5 min moving
average crosses the 10 min/15 min moving average both on the higher
and lower side.

I request the experts here to help me out with this formula.

Regards,

Suresh Kamath

[amibroker] Exrem / flip

2006-09-26 Thread carlacash26
Could someone please explain how to use the exrem / flip functions.

I would like my system to NOT enter a trade if one trade is already
placed for a particular stock.

Would this do the trick?

Buy   = ExRem(Buy, Sell);
Sell  = ExRem(Sell, Buy);
Short = ExRem(Short, Cover);
Cover = ExRem(Cover, Short);

What if I want to use a trailing stop loss instead of a sell signal to
close trades? Or both a trailing tops and a sell signal?

[amibroker] AFL code consultants for hire?

2006-09-26 Thread brpnw1
I am sometimes asked to write AFL code and create indicators within AB
for individuals and firms. My time is limited, however. Is there a
contact list of individuals who would be willing to write AFL code for
pay? Also, what is the average per-hour rate for AFL coding in AB?

Thanks in advance,

RE: [amibroker] New user

2006-09-26 Thread Terry
Scanning R/T requires R/T data for however many stocks you want to scan.
You probably know this, but I mention it because frequently people think
eSignal gives you unlimited access, but it's normally only 100 symbols.
You can pay for more.

Multiple criteria is no problem.

Scanning 4-5000 stocks for multiple criteria takes about 5 minutes on my
(moderately fast) machine so scanning 500 Nasdaq stocks every 5 minutes
should work.

Subject: [amibroker] New user

Thanks,

Nick

RE: [amibroker] Re: New User Needs Assistance.

2006-09-26 Thread Terry

All you need to blank the chart title is just:

Title = ;

The _N() part just prevents it from showing up in Interpretation, which
likely isn't a problem when you are printing blank anyway. It works
by suppressing all printing between the () so N,,, makes no sense.

Alternatives to _N() are:

EnableTextOuput(False);

Title = {{VALUES}} and other stuff;

EnableTextOuput(True);

Did you look up _N in help? It's clearer and quicker than asking the
board.

  _N

[amibroker] Formula Question

Hello,

I'm new to AFL so any help would be wonderful.

I'm trying to create an indicator showing the NYSE New Highs as a
percentage of NYSE New Highs + New Lows. I have Quotes Plus, so I
want to bring in the foreign data. I also want to make it an
oscillator on a scale of 0 to 100 (20 oversold, 80 overbought). Is
there a quick, easy formula for this?

Here's what I'm starting with:

NH=Foreign(!NY-NH,C);
NL=Foreign(!NY-NL,C;

NH%=(NH/(NH+NL);

Plot(NH%,NH/Total,colorBlue);

I'm probably way off...but I'm trying to learn.

Thank you very much,

Kyle

Re: [amibroker] Formula Question

2006-09-26 Thread Steve Dugas
Hi - I guess you could do it like this...

NHPct = ( NH * 100 ) / ( NH + NL );
Plot( NHPct, NH/Total, colorBlue );
Plot( 20, , colorBrown );
Plot( 80, , colorBrown );

Re: [amibroker] Formula Question

2006-09-26 Thread Kyle Smith
Thank you very much, I think that solved it. Here's what I have now:

NH=Foreign(!NY-NH,C); // initialize NH

NL=Foreign(!NY-NL,C); // initialize NL

NHPct = ( NH * 100 ) / ( NH + NL );
Plot( NHPct, NH/Total, colorBlue );
Plot( 20, , colorGreen );
Plot( 80, , colorRed );

Does this look correct? Thank you very much for your help.

Kyle
