[Amsn-devel] MSNP11 problem

2005-12-28 Thread Vivia Nikolaidou

First of all, GREAT WORK again, thanx ;) Now the problem:

I tested mutually deleting and readding with the amsn-screenshots account
(MSNP9 on screenshots). Then logged of from both accounts and then back on
mine - the first time it thought amsn-screenshots hadn't added me,
connecting back with MSNP9 (profile disabled) solved it. Repeated the
procedure, this time I got the message this user has added you, do you
want to bla bla (I had already pressed OK on this one before).

Sander said he forgot a refresh or something, but has to go now and will
be back tomorrow night. If nobody else fixes it until then, he will.

Greetings!

Q: With version 0.94 I could see when someone opened a conversation window
with me, but with 0.95 this doesn't happen anymore, why?

Re: [Amsn-devel] Question for FAQ

2005-12-28 Thread Youness Alaoui
I think we should also start putting FAQ questions about the 0.95
release... things like :

Q : How can I set my personnal message like in MSN7 ?
A : You can't, work is in progress to implement this feature and it will
probably be included in the next release, please be patient.

Q : I'm unable to download the files ...
A : here are the mirrors...

Q : I liked the skin, but it seems it's a 0.94 skin and it's not
compatible with 0.95... when will it be ?
A : we don't know, we're hoping to get a lot more skins with this new
release and skin updates, just wait for them, you can also try the 0.94
skins with the 0.95 release, if it works fine, then it's ok, if not, then
you should probably switch back to a 0.95 skin.. each 0.94 will react
differently with 0.95, some might work, some may not.. the only problems
you'll get are display glitches, and you also won't use the full
capabilities of the skinning system.

Q : I have a question, where to contact you ?
A : go to the irc channel... before asking a question, make sure you've
read the whole FAQ, in the channel you can type 'amsn install', or 'amsn
download', or 'amsn tcl/tk version' or 'amsn libstd' and many other
commands to get information out of the amsn bot, if the bot doesn't give
you the solution, devels will help you...

anything else ?

[Amsn-devel] mac forums

2005-12-28 Thread Youness Alaoui

Hi there..
I would like to suggest something..
close all threads in the mac forum, close the forum (forums stays but
noone can post.. if it's possible), have a sticky note READ HERE FOR MAC
QUESTIONS and it would be a closed thread, with one post redirecting the
official mac forums (on cocoaforge) with explanation (if you want) on the
reason for a separate forum...

this way users will get faster response, it will also be less confusing..

anyways, I'm attaching the file, so GrdScarabe, please, can you look at
it and see the diffs ?
btw, you REALLY did a great job!

Wow ... it's Lee who did the FAQ, I only copied his wonderful work on
the wiki.

I know.. I was talking about the wiki.. I'm sure it was more complicated
than a Ctrl-A + Ctrl-C + Alt-Tab + Ctrl-V...

1) When I run aMSN for the first time, it asks me if I want to
download

tcltls, what should I do? - remove, I don't think anyone ever asked

perfectly true :)

removed

2) Q: Can I have a traydock icon for aMSN? remove - if it's set
automaticly

TRUE

removed

4) Does aMSN run on 64-bit systems? and Where can I find a tcltls
extension

modified

compile it yourself. Also regarding the 2nd one, since 0.95 is out we
could
update to tls 1.5 and add the amd64 package to the list. I have
created a

binary for it and it's on the wiki somewhere.

let's dot it ;)

6) How do I create a shortcut to aMSN on my desktop? remove -
never been
asked and is more of a WM question

probably, not sure though, but I think it probably was already asked!

kept ... doesn't really matter to have it !

7) Can I make the sound work under Windows? remove- if it works
out of the

true..

removed

8) Can I disable custom and/or animated smileys? This option has
been planned
for a future release. remove, I though we added that? or change the
answer
to how to do it

hum ... how to do it ?

preferences-appearance-disable animated smileys... (I think).. might
need to check if it does disable RECEIVING custom smileys... if it's done,
change it, if it's not, keep the Q/A

-How can I change my display picture?

NO, I was about to add the 'how can I change my display picture',
because it got asked so many times these last 2 days... in my copy of
the FAQ I modified it to explain about the bug of special chars...

updated with the special chars thing ...

thanx.. did you use my document I sent or did you write it up yourself ?
you did a diff ? (email just arrived, it was blocked because it exceeeded
themax 150KB limit, Alvaro just accepted it.. so look back in emails sent
yesterday or so..

-Can I copy website url's to the clipboard?

copy url would be a doc in the feature list.. so move to documentation

what documentation ? I put it in
http://amsn.sourceforge.net/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=PendingDocumentationAdditions
for now

great

-What is WebcamWizard.

webcamwizard.. humm.. as you wish

kept ... just in case

-How can I set the captured frame size on my webcam?

frame size, keep it, it will be asked, but don't talk about webcam
assistant, just say 'it's not supported yet, but will be in a future
release' (also say that we use 320x240 resolution, and the the other

updated

- The mail traydock icon in the system tray continues to show up,
how do I
get rid of it?

sure

kept

And other improvements:
-How can I make my webcam work? - add a link to the Webcam FAQ.

which needs to be updated if I remember correctly

done

-What do the magenta contacts in my contact list mean? - change to
what do
the different colors in my contact list mean?

more or less.. maybe replace it with 'what does the XXX icon in my CL
represent' where XXX would be a screenshot of the icon

hmm ... not sure the icons in the text is a good idea ...the wiki is not
that powerfull and it can mess everything up !
I've just replaced magenta by colors...

no, magenta was because the nick of people WHO REMOVED YOU was in
magenta... but now, we use that special icon... just ask someone to remove
you, you'll see what I mean (it shows up next to the msn buddy icon).. you
just need to show that icon, not all msn buddy icons!

-When notify window pops up, the windows taskbar partially hides it,
can I
fix this? it is currently under windows questions but applies to
all OSes
so it should be moved.

ok..

moved

-How do I remove aMSN completely? - shows only how to remove the
settings so
rename it to it? Also add howto remove settins on Mac

It's common to imply remove settings with remove completely, and
users are used to ... so I'm for keeping it this way.
For Mac ... yes ... just tell me how to do it :)

-how can I prevent/make amsn from loading on windows start ?
... preferences-session ...

hmm ... I don't have windows version of aMSN so I didn't check and put
as it...

hope you didn't put ... preferences-session ...
anyways, it should be a sentence to say in the preferences window, session
tab, checkbox named start aMSN on Windows boot

- whenever I go to preferences-session, the 'load amsn at windows
start' is disabled, even if it does load at windows start, why is that
?

that checkbox is always disabled, we can't detect if amsn load at
winstart is enabled, so we disable the checkbox, when you press Save,
if you modified that value, then

[Amsn-devel] MSN 7.5 and BAckground sharing

2005-12-28 Thread GrdScarabe
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi folks,

In MSN 7.5, there is a nice feature that enable you to share your
current background with your buddy. In the current version of aMSN, when
the background is shared, it starts a simple P2P file exchange with
weired characters at the begining.

The filter of Content-Type doesn't work well with that because it just
considers it as a file and try to download it.

I've started to work on it, but I'm not an expert in msn protocol
reverse engineering .. actually, that's my first time :S (first time not
often the best one :D). So I found out that when a user share a
background, a packet with the Content-Type application/x-msnmsgrp2p is
sent (for now, amsn just download it), for what I know about MSN P2P
protocol, I am pretty sure that the first fields are exactly the same.
I've looked at several packets and it seems there are no difference from
a P2P file exchange...

Has someone already work on that feature ? I wanted to do a plugin for
it in order to play with aMSN code ... but it becomes more complex than
I expected :S ... Can someone provide me some clues, help, advices ?

GrdScarabe

PS: the first packet is in attachment
