Hi, I just did some Googling but did not find any answer. In Android SDK, is there a possibility to detect what notification is active in the notification bar? Eg. Hello! Do you know if OnPreviewFrame (as of Android 4.0.3) is correctly implemented in Samsung Galaxy Nexus? I have programmed some code that works perfectly on a Galaxy S3, but in the Nexus, the byte[] buffer, which comes with the call to OnPreviewFrame and should have the YUV data, has 0s in all the Y channel, and -128 in U and V (that is, plain green, if I'm correct). getPreviewFormat() is returning a 17 as expected, meaning that the preview mode is actually NV21 (the same as the S3 on which it works). I know there are some hardware-dependent issues with raw camera data, so maybe that is the explanation? I have been searching but I have found nothing related. Maybe we should ask why developers have been using notification ads instead of blaming them for it. The purchase rate is still very low on Google play compared with Apple appstore. Everyone that I talked to last year said that the only way of getting any real revenue from Android apps is advertising. Some content types, like Live wallpapers are not suitable for banner ads. This left the developers with no other monetizing options than notification ads and app icons. It seems however that push ads and app icons will not be allowed after 31/8, so we will see what happens then. You should however not blame the developers for notification ads! Hi, I have to write my own custom TTS engine so that i can use it in my Apps. Why I want to create my own TTS engine because some of the TTS engine either doesn't support required languages OR those which are supported are not free TTS engine, so I will create my own engine with all those languages supported, I Just want to create it as a library(.jar) so it will easy to add to several applications. [android-developers] What are the file formats in Android WebView cache directory (data_1, f_000001 etc.) and are these accessible somehow?
Hi there! I have researched and also posted this question on stackoverflow, but got not a single response :-( I created a rudimentary browser with help of a WebView. When I visit a website (containing some text and a few images), the cache directory in /data/data/com.mayexample/cache/webViewCacheChromium gets filled with a few files called index, data_0, data_1, data_2, f_1, f_2 etc. I was wondering, what's the format of these files, what do they contain? I thought about so, a few of these files surely have to be the website's images then and tried opening them in a file manager (open as image). But whatever file I pick, the process says Failed loading!. Even if I rename some of them to .jpg, still I can't open anything. I have read on the internet that this worked for some people though (look at Android WebView - Load Images from cachehttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/11274225/android-webview-load-images-from-cache, it's exactly what I want to do), but I can't do anything with the cache's files. Do you know a way to open webview cache files? Doesn't one file represent a corresponding cached image for example? *What I really want to achieve* (once I understand the structure of the cache files) is to programmatically fetch images of the webview from it's cache, like the author of the link posted above (unfortunately this posting's answers don't help much). I'm having several issues dealing with android.graphics.Path when I set my target *API-Level to 14 or higher* and *only on certain devices*. One has already been described herehttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/12133797/android-path-with-values-out-of-range, another one is this: I used to be able to create a Path and then in View.onDraw() do something like: canvas.drawPath(p, paint); pTest.offset(1, 1); This would offset the path by 1 pixel each dimension every time View.invalidate() is called. At target API-Level 14+ however, this offsets it only once and then never again, when running on the *Nexus 7*. On the emulator, it works just as it should. By virtual device do you mean an extra virtual network device? Assuming you're using the ARM emulator, this can be done by passing extra options to qemu. I'm going to also assume (1) you are running Linux (Mac I believe is okay, too) as I do not know how to do this on Windows; and (2) you have tunctl (on Ubuntu, this can be installed with sudo apt-get install uml-utilities). You can create a TUN/TAP device with: sudo tunctl -u username -t tap0 You can install the TUN/TAP device on the emulator with: emulator -qemu -net nic -net user -net nic -net tap,ifname=tap0,script=no,downscript=no I have found the script=no and downscript=no options to be useful for avoiding errors when the emulator shuts down. [android-developers] Are Encrypt Opaque Binary Blobs (OBBS) supported?
I've been playing around with OBB files on ICS and haven't had success mounting encrypted ones. I've been able to build OBB files on my Ubuntu 10.10 box and successfully mount them in my App on the phone. However, when I encrypt them I'm not able to mount them. I haven't found much documentation on the subject of creating the files via mkobb.sh and obbtool, other then this StackOverflowhttp://stackoverflow.com/questions/4524981/what-is-obbopaque-binary-blob-in-android-develop-sitepost. Since I can't find any documentation about the mkobb.sh and obbtool it's hard to know if there is something wrong in with my process of creating OBB files, if there's something in my environment that's not right, if its a bug in Android or encrypted OBBs are just not supported at this time. Under 2.3.6 I am observing a problematic behaviour: I have a sqlite table with a 'discounttable' column declared as 'text collate localized' When running following query: select * from discount where (discounttable = ?) order by priority asc the data is not being returned when the parameter is: 'ŚWIĘTCZA;#3ZN#JOA' (contains polish accents). Doing the same with: select * from discount where (discounttable collate binary = ?) order by priority asc or select * from discount where (discounttable like ?) order by priority asc (with like parameter being '%ŚWIĘTCZA;#3ZN#JOA%') does return the expected rows. The original query does not work no matter what locale I set in the phone. Am I missing something. Hi there, I'm developing an app requiring: 1. Voice recognition 2. Without an Internet connection 3. To be deployed on a Nexus 7 The Nexus 7 I have already has OS 4.1.1 and offline voice recognition installed and, indeed, manually-triggered voice typing works fine offline in text fields, etc. SpeechRecognizer (and its related intent) do not work offline, of course. Therefore, all I'd like to be able to do is: 1. Start my app 2. Automatically activate a voice typing-based IME on a text field, preferably hidden, so the app can start recognizing right away and keep at it I've already built a specialized voice typing-based IME, per this: http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2011/12/add-voice-typing-to-your-ime.html ...and all that seems to remain is directing use of this IME via the InputMethodManager, in one way or another. The setInputMethod() method seems to be the trick, but I'm not sure how to obtain the IBInder argument. This IME and the activity designed to employ it are all in the same APK, so: 1. Does anyone know if this should this be doable? 2. If so, any idea how to obtain/convey the IBinder from the custom IME to the InputMethodManager (is this just a standard service binder?)? I want an intent filter to only launch my app if the user clicks the Download/Preview button on a file with a particular extension. Consider an email with the following attachments: foo.bar plugh.xyzzy click.me billy.bob I want my app to be registered so a download/preview button is ONLY next to the file with the extension .me, so next to the click.me file. I have been successful in making intent filters that will show buttons next to ALL the files, but not next to only the one I care about. Here's a filter that shows buttons next to all of the files, and not just in front of click.me intent-filter action android:name=android.intent.action.VIEW / category android:name=android.intent.category.DEFAULT / data android:host=* android:scheme=content android:mimeType=*/* android:pathPattern=.*\\.me / /intent-filter It seems that android:pathPattern is being ignored. I'm assuming at this point the system does not know or recognize the file name of the file being presented as an attachment in the email? When my phone connects to a headset which sends AT command AT+XEVENT=foo,3 via handsfree profile, I expected my app. to get a broadcast intent of BluetoothHeadset.ACTION_VENDOR_SPECIFIC_HEADSET_EVENT. But my app. got nothing. (I wrote another app. to broadcast a BluetoothHeadset.ACTION_VENDOR_SPECIFIC_HEADSET_EVENT intent, my app. could receive it) For what kind of handsfree AT commands that android would broadcast a BluetoothHeadset.ACTION_VENDOR_SPECIFIC_HEADSET_EVENT intent? [android-developers] Getting Eclipse's code / commenting formatters to play nice with Android activity creation
I use several coding/commenting standardizing formatters in Eclipse (Preferences Java Code Style Code Templates / Formatter) when developing Java applications. When creating a straight Java class in an Android Application project, all goes well. In fact, pretty much everything works well.. Except none of the automatic commenting is done when a new Android Activity is made (no file comments or anything). Does anyone know of a way to get this functionality when using the Eclipse Activity generator? I'm happy just creating them by hand, but Android Development is a new class at my University and I'd like to figure this out to make it easier on my Professor and his future students. I have been looking for solutions for this problem, and unfortunately there is
none. Do you have any ideas to get over this problem? in my application I use a
popupmenu together with list view, and when user clicks on the list view item
it will retrieve some information from SQLite database. What I am trying to say
is the duplicates will give a value that is out of bound, causing crashes and
that hurts user experience very much. Hope to hear for a workaround for this
issue. Thanks a lot!

I have no weights in my layout at all. Its just a simple textView with a
status message and a listView.

If i remember correctly, if you use these attributes, layout-code is
called twice.

[android-developers] Service and START_REDELIVER_INTENT
Hi, I have been playing around with trying to restart a service that was killed while it had started. There are some questions that I can't seem to answer by searching in the API documentation. - Is the re-delivery of the Intent guaranteed? - Are there any timings available for the scheduler that re-delivers this intent? (do I wait seconds, minutes, hours, ) - Is this behaviour affected by the user (me) clicking the OK button on the forced close pop-up? (ideally it would have to work without user intervention - so no-one closing the pop-up) - Is this behaviour affected by me running the Service attached to eclipse in debug mode (i.e. I have to manually resume the debugger as it catches the exception)? - I packaged the Service with an Activity that can control it (start / stop it) .. is the strategy still supposed to work when it is only the Service that is killed and the Activity is still running? I also tried to add an UncaughtExceptionHandler, report what is happening and then package the caught Throwable in a RuntimeException and rethrow it but this way the Service is never restarted. For the other situations I get some very intermittent results and more often then not - the service is not restarted while stopSelf() is definately not called. I have an idea for that. Why don't you use database for that. Database should contain at least 2 tables - one will contain chapter name with no.(primary key) Other will contain the chapter no. as foreign key, and contents (one by one) Then, on clicking chapter name from the list, extract its no, and retrieve its contents using suitable query, and display them on next activity. Unfortunately this cannot be done in XML as far as I'm aware... You should be able to do this in code with the PathShape class though... http://developer.android.com/reference/android/graphics/drawable/shapes/PathShape.html Note: I have never done this so I don't know how well it works or how to actually do it. Hmmm I don't really see anything wrong with your code. What version of Android are you testing this on? Did you test it on multiple versions? One thing I can think of is this: Rather than setting a click listener on your gridview, try putting a click listener on each photo in the gridview... It is less than ideal, but it might help you work around the issue. It will appear inside the shape. What do you mean by don't have textview id? You can define the textview in XML... you would just have to set the background programmatically. So you would have an id.
