[android-developers] gsmGsmCellLocation on XOOM/Honeycomb returns nothing
I just wonder why the GSMCellLocation .getCid or .getLac returns nothing. I have the 2G/3G version from T-Mobile. The code and other apps work on all other phones like Atrix or Nexus one, but not on the XOOM. Is it a honeycomb bug? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Re: Signal Strength data for WCDMA
int gsmBer = signalStrength.getGsmBitErrorRate(); // this gives me -1 (shouldn't this be something??) getGsmBitErrorRate() seems not to work at all. I always get -1. You don't get a value in idle mode, but you should get it during an active call. I tested it with Motorola Milestone, Nexus one and G1. They all return only -1. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Debug key expired and problems to get a new one
I started android developping a year ago With Eclipse on a Windows Machine. Recently I switched to Mac OS X. Android developping worked fine with newest Eclipse and Android MacOS SDK on my iMac until my debug.kestore expired yesterday. Goggle suggests in this case to delete the old key and a new key should be generated automacially. But this is not working for me. Maybe it is just a missing path for the keytool. But how do I have to set this path and where? I looked into the JDK folders, but there are only symbolic links. Could anybody give me a detailed example how to set this keytool and sdk tools path in Mac OS X SL? And what debug.kestore will be used? In Eclipse settings I found a path to the default debug.keystore and a custom debug.kestore. What is the difference? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. Yes, north european airports are closed since yesterday and all German airports are closed since today. London is closed and Amsterdam as well. Last time the vulcano on iceland was active for 14 month, so maybe we will have to wait little more... But it is pretty quiet in Frankfurt now;) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Is SignalStrength readable outside onSignalStrengthschanged?
With SDK 2.1 it is possible to get some additional signalstrength information in the Phonestatelisteners onSignalStrengthsChanged event. That works, but I need to monitor the signalstrength more accurate. onSignalStrengthsCanged is only fired if one of the four signal bars of the signalstrength indicator have changed. So I tried this outside: SignalStrength sig new SignalStrength(); rxl = sig.getGsmSignalStrength(); But it tells me that SignalStrength() is not visible. Why is that? The funny thing is, that the NeighbouringCellInfo gives me the Signalstrength of the neighbourcells every second, if I want. But the serving cell is updated very badly. Also I can use getGsmBitErrorRate() only in onSignalStrengthsChanged. That makes no sense, because the quality of the signal is largely independent of the strength. So is there a change of getting the actual signalstrenth outside onSignalStrengthsChanged? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. I'm also still waiting for my nexus here in Germany.:( I don't think, that they ship the phones direcly from the US to EU, because of duty issues. Declaring several hundreds of brand new mobile phones, all declared as a gift would be too funny to pass thru the EU customs. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Re: Cellid returned by NeighboringCellInfo's getCid() ?
So does anyone know how to interpret the values returned? I can see no real pattern in the return values, unfortunately. I only managed to get the NeighboringCellInfo in 3G Mode so far. I don't know, why I don't get any NeighboringCells in 2G. My network is o2 Germany. getCid() in 3G returns the scrambling code of the cell and not the cell id. I compared the values with Nokia Fieldtest app. I'm not quite sure about the returned rssi value. I guess: rxl[dBm] = -113dBm + rssi But the reception of the NeighboringCellInfo seems to be quite buggy. Very often I get 0 cells. Also a GPS Location provider seems to stop the CellInfo from time to time. And even worse is that location = (GsmCellLocation) tm.getCellLocation(); location.requestLocationUpdate(); cellID = location.getCid(); returns -1 most of the time after a LocationNetworkProvider has started. The onCelllocationChanged from the Phonestate listener also stops working from then on. Cell tracking is getting worse with every android update. It is now even worse than it is on the Symbian plattform :( My last hope is Issue 700. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group.
