[android-developers] Communicate and transfer data between BLE Devices

I am designing a mobile application for a mobile phone that currently has 
the following functionality: The application scans for Bluetooth devices, 
in my case a Arduino 101 micro-controller, and upon selecting the 
application successfully the application permits a connection with the 
Arduino 101. The next step is to setup communication between the Arduino 
101 and the mobile application, so the Arduino 101 can be controlled by the 
application via writing numerical bits of data to the device, which 
represent integer speed values. I read that I need to setup a GATT Client 
or Server, but I am not certain if this is correct nor how to do so 
step-by-step in the existing program that I've written. May someone please 
clarify what I need to do and how to do so. Mind you, visual aids help me 
learn.

. It's the simplest way to distribute private 
GearVR apps to your clients/users/customers/testers. It completely 
automates the dreaded Oculus Signature file process so that your users can 
easily install your GearVR apps with a couple taps.

There are several big brands already using the tool to provide mass 
distribution of private GearVR apps and I'm always looking for ways to 
improve it! I've shared it out to the Unreal Engine, Unity, and Oculus 
communities and they all thought it was super valuable because they save 
time and don't have to deal with the headaches of managing "OSig" files, so 
I thought I'd share it here too!

[android-developers] Assigning broadcast intents to hardware keys of custom Android device

I have been struggling for some time to find information on how to create 
my own broadcast intents within AOSP for custom hardware buttons on a 
device I'm building.

Essentially, I want to have one or more events triggered when a hardware 
key is pressed down, and other events triggered when the same key is 
released.  The keys in question use custom scan codes and are not standard 
key values.  I already have the scan codes for the keys mapped to keycodes 
in Android.

An example of the events I want to trigger for one particular button are:

On key down:
turn on keypad light and display
send broadcast intent such as android.intent.action.customkey1.down

On key up:
turn off keypad light, but leave display on
send broadcast intent such as android.intent.action.customkey1.up

I'm experienced with kernel hacking, as well as digging into anything I can 
find but I'm at a loss on this particular subject, as most of the resources 
out there are for app developers rather than OS development.  If I am in 
the wrong group here, I'd really appreciate if you could point me in the 
right direction!

How do I show the commands gradle is actually using?
Like I've added LOCAL_C_INCLUDES; but I'd like to know the actual
command line gradle is issuing to know why it can't find the include
path I've issued.

[android-developers] How to Update or Delete instance of recurring Event on Android Calendar..?

Hi.

I'm trouble in update or delete on One instance of 
recurring CalendarContracts.Events

i think it should use the CalendarContract.Events.CONTENT_EXCEPTION_URI. 
(refference 
from here 

)

other calendars have _sync_id is insert 'original_sync_id + 
originalinstanceTime' form.

but when i following above link,  _sync_id is inserted  "SYNC_ERROR : Not 
Found".

What is right way.. ?

Let me know what to do for treatment.

I'd think a more effective solution is google cardboard... so every
device after those :)
reading about those you'd have to have very exact positioning to take
advantage... otherwise you'd get horrible crossover... or any slight
tilt; can see why they haven't been continued.

It gets called from with engine.app->pendingWindow

works pretty good.

The only problem I found with the functions is if you use a very old
SDK target you will get false numbers... but then android is auto
scaling for you... so your surface is reallly that width and height to
the app view and it's auto scaled to the correct resolution.

init and init.rc is in a different place... not sure if it is the same sort
of process I'd try but I don't have any bluetooth keyboards to try...
there is 'Hackers Keyboard' which is a soft keyboard that has ctrl  Alt
del keys... but that being software I think doesn't count (and it doesn't
do it).

[android-developers] android.bat update sdk --no-ui AND password prompts

Hello All,

I've been asked to look at installing the tools for Android Development on a 
cluster of computers at work.

I've found that installing the SDK and then running android.bat update sdk 
--no-ui is working perfectly until it gets to a few sites it would like a 
username and password for (HTC and Motorola).

Has anyone got any suggestions as to how I can get round this whilst staying on 
the command line? I'm wondering if I could use the --filter option but I've not 
managed to find a good link to documentation yet. So if there is one this would 
be most welcome.

Being a computer room for students we can't give them all admin rights which 
would of course be the easy solution.

Even if I was to register accounts for these sites, not that I've read the TCs 
for both yet, I'm also not sure I can fed them in from the command line.

If there's a better mailing list for this question please accept my apologies 
and point me in the right direction.

[android-developers] External SD Card write permission in ice cream sandwitch

Hi,
  Is any body know how to get write permission for external SD card in 
Android 4.0. I included write permission on Manifest file. While use 
Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory()
 it always get the Internal SD card. For me I need to save a huge amount of 
data which is better to save in the external storage area. Can any one help 
me for solve this issue.

[android-developers] update gridview in viewpager

I have a viewpager with a number of gridviews in it, how do I update the 
gridview?
Updating the viewpager upon onstart is no problem, but the gridview dows 
not show any changes.

   viewPager.setAdapter( pageradapter );
   public class MyPagerAdapter extends PagerAdapter {
   public Object instantiateItem( View collection, int position ){
   gridView.setAdapter( myadapter );
   }

I tried overwriting the notifyDataSetChanged of the pageradapter, that 
seems to work fine.
But if I then try to update the myadapter on the gridview nothing changes.

This makes sense, since there are multiple gridviews and myadapters but how 
do I update them?

When I have a look at the KeyEvents that are described in the Android
documentation
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
The events differ from each other: E.g. KEYCODE_ENTER has a value of
66 resp. 28 How is this related to each other?

I'm asking this because I have to add KEYCODE_NUMPAD_ENTER  to the
keylayout file and don't know which key number is correct.

I'm using the DDMS for debugging my application. Each time I press a

I found commands to set the keychar and keylayout to a specific file,
but it does not work :( I'm typing this commands using the
DevTools/'Terminal Editor'.

Any ideas what else has to be done to set a different keylayout file
as default?

[android-developers] Force ndk-build to use c++ compiler

Hey guys,

I have another problem. I want to compile all my files (*.c and *.cpp)
with a c++ compiler. How can I tell ndk-build to do that? Currently it
decides to use a normal c-compiler to compile *.c files and a c++-
compiler to compile *.cpp files.

I had this problem as well, and after searching the discussion groups,
I saw several people had the same issue. Trying to launch an
application to a device, you get a message like:

There are several suggestions offered in the discussion groups,
making sure you have necessary upgrades, stopping and restarting
various components, etc. None of the suggested solutions worked for
me.
In addition, I was seeing the same problem on two completely different
dev machines, leading me to think it was a device issue. I started by
force stopping other running applications and services on the device
until I was able to successfully deploy. Google Services was the app
that I stopped that allowed me to again deploy to the device. Since
this dev platform/device combo worked well in the past, I am making
the assumption that a recent update to Google Services caused a
regression. It could be, however, that this particular error is caused
by a number of different conditions, and I just happened upon the
condition that caused mine.
Hope this helps, this was a real bugger for me.

JNI and native sockets. The problem is that I have to call Java code
if some packages arrive on the native socket connection. Currently I
