What do you mean with "install the API"?

Do you have the YouTube App, downloaded from the Play Store on the device
you're using to test your app?

YouTube API is just an "interface",  it needs the device to have the real
YouTube app installed to work.

[android-developers] Get YouTube App error

I’m trying to develop a video player app in android studio to play YouTube 
videos and I’m getting this error.

Get YouTube App

This app won’t run without the YouTube App, which is missing from your 
device.

I’ve tried to install the “YouTubeAndroidPlayerApi-1.2.2” a couple of ways 
but it still gives me the same error.

Any ideas?
