[android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.
i used to have the same problem. my advice is to root the phone, and use link2sd with a microsd card which you divide in two partitions one is for normal use, and the second partition is used with ext4 for linking the apps. ( the files get moved to the second partition and only a link remains in the internal memory ) when you use the pro version of link2sd you can link all files kind regards Stefan Am Samstag, 1. Hi, I see that it is an old thread, but maybe someone could help me. My problem is that the internal memory of my xperia active is getting to be too small for installing anything else beside the Google Play services app. How could I instruct my device to use the micro sd card as internal memory? Do I need to root my phone to do so? Is it possible? I'm a programmer, but I don't have experience with android, could someone write step-by-step instructions for me, please? I really love the original user interface with the great four-corner menu, which is uncontinued in latest Sony mobiles. Is it possible to keep the original software with this modification of the storage method? [android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.
Will it be possible to unlock phones that are currently not unlockable? I really want to get root access, so I can load an ad blocker, permissions controls and backup software, none of which will work without root access. I don't think that these apps are anything unusual, and I miss having them on my SE Ray, having had them for some time on my previous Android phone. Will any future updates allow root access? It would be even better if it were possible with a simple update direct from SE. If the update process involved requesting a specific update, after submiting the IMEI to SE, then using adb to push it to the phone. This would reduce the number of requests to those of us who have the Android SDK and would stop normal users from making a mess of things. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.
Sony Ericsson, I think we Verizon Xperia Play customers deserve an explanation. Quotes from http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/
We strongly recommend that standard users NOT unlock the boot loader, as it is not needed. We are proud to deliver great phone experiences through our rigorously tested and official software releases.
We don't have the option to disable the light sensor (err...), we don't have the option to remap our gamepad keys (R button for camera is just so obvious!), and we can't do a million things we can with root. Reading the website is just insulting.
You should be aware that unlocking the boot loader will not give you root access. The only way to get root access is to flash a custom ROM with root access.
This is not true, a custom ROM is NOT necessary for ROOT.
It is currently not possible to unlock the boot loader for CDMA phones. We are however working on this.
This is the worst one, what's the deal with this? We all know it is possible, and someone just went out of their way to make it harder. --- Despite all this, I will still give Sony Ericsson the benefit of the doubt and hope they can give an explanation. Something tells me it's Verizon that is pushing SE around. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. [android-developers] Re: Option to unlock the boot loader for Sony Ericsson Android Gingerbread phones now available.
Hello, Im sure you have been asked this question many times already but like a lot of other Verizon CDMA Xperia Play owners, I am checking the web, forums, and other places each day in hopes to finally see an unlock for our bootloaders so root can be acheived. I am on my 3rd Xperia Play and am having a very hard time enjoying this phone. My first 2 went defective with different issues after a week or so. While the current Play that I am using doesnt have any hardware issues like the others, the software glitches, spotty wifi, and horrible lag makes it such a dissapointment and I truly see so much potential. Without being able to unlock bootloader soon I see no reason to keep this phone much longer. Im not alone. Please tell me I can look forward to a solution soon?? Hi We have seen in some forums that customers unlocking the boot loader on their phones have experienced problems when they accept a FOTA (Firmware upgrade Over The Air) update. The issue has been reproduced and we are working on a solution. For customers that have unlocked the boot loader - do not accept the Firmware upgrade OTA.
