It is a proud moment for everyone of us as an Asian film got eight Oscars.

from the album Kangalal Kaithu Seiman what amazing compositions! The
piano interludes in the latter are just simply mindlbowing and the entire song
flows just flawlessly aided by that rhythm guitar. Anarkali is just a beautiful
melody with with infectious tabla rhythms and such a haunting, sweet,
expression to the whole song. There are also other goodies in this album, but
these two are my favorites from that one!!! Rahman - I bow to thee!

[arr] A.R.Rahman's blogpost in itimes

2009-04-05 Thread Prakash Balaramkrishna
http://www.itimes.com/content.php?cid=60146

Source: Indiatimes Spirituality
Column by Rahman (as told toAtul Sethi)

Music is my means of connecting with the divine. What cannot be put into words,
can be expressed through music. When one listens to music, one closes one’s
eyes because music is an expression and celebration of the divine.

There are countless names of God, which we cannot utter simultaneously, but
through a soulful composition, we can experience the whole power of God’s
presence amidst us.

When I was composing for my first film Roja, I often went into a spiritual
vacuum where nothing else mattered except the music.. At those times, I felt
connected with a supreme power. That is why I credit whatever success has come
my way to the Almighty. I feel that the power and grace of the divine is
infinite - it is we human beings who create boundaries and try to limit this
power.

For artists, I believe that this manifests itself in the form of inspiration
which helps you create something wonderful. I often work through the night
because that is when I feel closest to the divine.

The divine power works in a mysterious way to offer you experiences, which
enrich and make you a better person. As a composer, I have often felt that
life’s experiences - both good and bad - have greatly added to my compositions.

My belief in Sufism has helped me emerge as a stronger person and has given me
the equanimity to view life objectively. Often, when I visit a dargah, I feel a
sense of peace enveloping me. I also believe in the power of prayer. I had an
occasion to experience it for myself, when my daughter was diagnosed with a
hole in her heart when she was born.

However, by the time she was two, the hole vanished without any operation. It
was considered nothing short of a miracle. I believe it happened because of the
power of prayer. If one is sincere, no prayer goes unanswered.

Re: [arr] ::: MARUDAANI INSTRUMENTAL ::: - by Aakash Shah

2009-04-05 Thread Shah Navas
Thanks for sharing Aakash. Sorry for the delayed response.

I really like the way you interpret the song, rather than being just another
instrumental replacing the vocals with an instrument. I liked the way you
gave the song a sad and slow feel. This different interpretation makes it
more pleasant.

(I loved those interludes in the original from 2:00 to 2:20)

But you compressed the track by 20 seconds. I would also have liked an
extended version :)

If you accept fan wish list - a sad version of Chura Liya Hai from Yaadon Ki
Baarat. :)

Thanks again

2009-04-05 Thread sbrithiviraj
Hi,

Rahman's one of the all time great theme song from film Bombay had been used in
the Hollywood movie Lord of war.

When we are talking about the stuffs like movies, music copied from the
Hollywood. Rahman in his own way changed or re-write the history where they
copied or can say legally used music composed by Rahman.

If you want to know more about it please Google it.

IndiaGlitz [Thursday, April 02, 2009]

We're not being boorish in abusing people who've spread this story. Officials
from Rahman's office themselves are poking fun at the media which has been
floating highly unbelievable stories like Rahman endorsing Motorola. Agreed,
brand AR Rahman sells. More today than ever before. And a few media houses and
online websites have been using it to their advantage with stories like these.
But such fakes are being rubbished by people close to the maestro himself, who
IndiaGlitz spoke to.
The latest in the beeline of rumours about Rahman was about him endorsing
Motorola for a record price. 'Then what about his dealings with Nokia already?'
his officals ask in jest. That a person cannot endorse two brand of the same
field is common sense, they think. And it was less than a few months ago that
Rahman, in collaboration with Nokia, brought out his mobile album, Connections,
as part of his deal with them. Rahman and Nokia have earlier collaborated for
his album, Pray For Me Brother. Officials in Rahman's studio say there were not
even talks about an agreement with Motorola and this was a complete baseless
rumour.

Now, reports in various spurious sections of the media have announced that
Rahman has inked a deal with Motorola for a record Rs 28 crore to take over as
its youth icon and brand ambassador, instead of David Beckam. Websites and
online sources mind find it interesting to publish such stories, but those who
know the truth only call them 'imaginative'.
