Probably being ARR's sister, she didn't want to be seen gushing about her brother's talent and success. And I don't think it's weird for her to praise Ilayaraja. Being musically inclined herself and growing up listening to Ilayaraja's songs as many of her age group obviously did, it's not surprising that Raihana have Ilayaraja in high regards. On the same note, her opinion on Raja does not, in any manner, potray ARR as any less talented than Ilayaraja. @ Madhavan I guess 30 seconds clipping would have not been enough because there are certain parts in the track where the unwanted noise is more prominent. Anyways need not worry about these specific tracks getting pirated because I guess downloading may be one of the only few ways to get these. CDS for both Dharam Yodha and Roja are not available in the market, they may be a really few old stocks of Roja somewhere but you won't find Dharam Yodha CDs anywhere. We all know how pathbreaking and influential ARR's stamp on the film music industry in India has been. Mindblowing innovations of sound, style, form, and genre totally revolutionized Indian film music and we see the trends following even today. Various musical directors from Moitra to SEL to Bharadwaj follow the Rahman formula quite distinctly, while credit must be given to their own unique sounds and styles and contributions. Let's pretend that ARR never came around to films in the 1990s (thank God that didn't happen). For a while, perhaps, the Anu Maliks and Nadeem Shravans would continue to rule the roost until various new age directors came along. But, even with advanced sound technology and progressive thinking, would these young new MDs be as global sounding and sonically creative as we hear them today without Rahman's previous paths? Even with technology, how do you think the music would sound today without Rahman having been on the scene? This is purely hypothetical and just curious to konw people's thoughts. Obviously, Rahman created history and the rest is history. But, would the music scene eventually get around to the style and sound it has today without Rahman, or we would be continuing to hear the same stale sounds and styles pre 1992, esp. up North?

I retorted - You dont have to speak about the movie; speak about you! I would be pleased if India Today publishes details about the new music director who is Mani Ratnam's new find. I also told him that I'd already collected his photo from Rajeev Menon. Finally, later acceded to my request! The meeting happened at 4 pm. He was not a school kid. He was not yet a college student. He seemed to be just in that transition phase, with a shy smile on his face! His mom and sister were with him. His mom offered me cake and savouries they had purchased from the neighbourhood bakery, for me. Coffee followed. Then, we started talking. He told me a lot - about his father RK Shekar, about how music became his full-time job after his father's death, about the family background, about the conversion to islam, about his name change!
