I don't really care about Mayya Mayya (yeah u can talk about the raag used and all of that..but bah..id never really wanna hear that if im sitting alone in my balcony chilling or if i just wanna listen to some good Rahmanic stuff), Jaage hai or the 'Guru Bhai Guru bhai' song . These were more like theme songs, and hardly for casual hearing. In fact, I had completely forgotten abt them until the mention of Guru came up in some recent posts. So, Id just like to mention one more thing. 'Shauk Hai' makes me feel very nostalgic when I hear it. I wander back to my under grad days and the like. Prolly coz this movie released when I was in college ...and I have some memories associated with that..It is still surprising coz I had never really heard the song in its entirety before...Just that some songs have that particular feel to them, and this is surely 1 of them. i guess im sounding like sum old uncle now..so nyway...ill cut this short now... Imagine if this had happened. MJ and Rahman on a single stage.Will it did happen for Ekam Satyam, but no one seems to have any damn record of it. But i am talking of full on blast concert creating a mother load of a mash-up to be embedded in the books for ever! Imagine such a treat for the world audience!! It was one of those days again when i was doing parallel processing in my brain and found a great way to probably imagine how it would sound if we put 2 great tracks in a single mix. I did this mix very quickly, like in few hours,dint clean the mix in great detail because i wanted a ‘live feel’ and to achieve it, i let the sound bounce on its volume abit.It feels raw and but thats how it should be i think. Yeah .. Me too watched with Subs !! For the First time watched an tamil movie :-P I dont know why Indians have liked it so much .. I found it non-indian in terms of making the film and script ( may be i've watched only Bad Indian Movies ) .. Only 3 main characters ,where the 3rd main character Ganesh sir got only a few mins of onscreen appearances !! If you remove all the song sequences from this film u got an Hollywood quality romantic movie !! amazing work i must say !! Though i dont like watching romantic films,but really like this one ... There was no desperate attempt from director to make this film a hit film, i think that is where he made a good decision !! no item numbers , no unnecessary scenes ..No unnecessary comedy scene to make the audience laugh , no unnecessary characters and so on.There r so many things Indian film-makers add in their film to make his film a hit one ..Gautham V menon added nothing like that .. Bravo !! ... You are hooked to the plot from the first scene !! All the crew members worked hard on making every frame perfect !! and it really shows in he movie .. the camera works , cinematography ...every damn thing on the movie is amazing ... specially the editing was totally apt for the whole script !! Acting was perfect all the way !! specially the hero ( read 1st main actor ) acted superbly !! Rahman at a press conference said: “It took nearly two to two and half months to compose the anthem with a large crew of almost 70 singers. There was TMS, P Susheela, Yuvan, to name a few”. The first lines of the anthem written by Chief Minister Karunanidhi begin with *Pirapokkum Ella Uyirkkum…* . Some of the other top singers featuring in the anthem include Hariharan, Harini, Benny Dayal, Srinivas, Vijay Yesudas, Naresh Iyer and ARRs nephew GV Prakash. The highlight about this song according to Rahman is that it also features singers from other genres of music such as carnatic, folk, sufi and even rap. When you say the tamil lyrics is better in sync with the tune, thats where it concerns me. The tune that you are refering to is northish. I hope you can differentiate between hindustani and carnatic?
