Re: [arr] Fwd: Chennai concert
Fair enough.. Though I enjoy any AR number, I would like to highlight some concerns from the view of my fellow Chennai mates.. most of us in Chennai have been deprived of Hindi for various political reasons by the parties here.. Hence most of us are not familiar with the language so I would not blame the Chennai listeners for expecting more tamil numbers especially when AR itself is from Chennai.. Chennai has always been proud of AR as her soil's son.. I do agree it's hard and requires more rehearsals to have a different playlist for each concert but for Chennai alone it could have been considered for reasons quoted above.. This is just my humble opinion.. Re: [arr] Fwd: Chennai concert ..... and all such concerts !!!
I would slight alter your statement and say, that Rahman should do concerts in cities where he has not performed before. These cities are starved for meeting / seeing Rahman and the concerts are the only way Rahman will visit these cities. Like say in Pune or Kozhikode where he performed for the first time, audience had no prior benchmark to compare Rahman's concerts so whatever was dished out, they ( we ) all loved it. Chennai, Delhi and say Mumbai now have hosted more than one concert. Here the comparison will be certainly made from the experience of the past concert in their city. Secondly I don't buy the argument over Rahman should or should not sing more Tamil or hindi or any language. If Rahman is singing his own songs, that song performed in any language frankly does not matter. In Pune ARR / his group sang 2-3 songs from Shivaji and honestly the general audience was totally in dark about these songs, but they loved it, enjoyed it. Not only any Rahmaniac commented on it but also the local press did not give any adverse comment. That is how it should be.. It is ARR's choice which songs and in which language to perform and we have to accept that.. - Finally, I am upset with the attitude of the event managers / organisers towards the RAHMANIACS / RAHMAN FANS it needs a huge improvement. For a strange reason and absurd logic the fans are equated with nuisance and at times looked upon with hostility the organisers should understand that in the absence of the fans and lack of enthusiastic support from Rahmaniacs, popularity of such concerts could be on the decline. If ARR decides to arrange his own concerts, WE WILL SUPPORT 10% ! Re: [arr] Fwd: Chennai concert
In my opinion, since the proceeds from our Boss' concerts mostly go to charitable causes, it justifies the point of having as many concerts as possible. There can never be a perfect concert just like there cannot be a perfect human being. Unlike a studio recording, no matter how much practice is put in, there will always be an element of uncertainty when you perform live. ARR is just another human being with mind blowing talent. Let us enjoy his music and admire his qualities. Expectations reduce happiness. Surprises bring joy.
