It doesn't. There's no dialtone at all. On Thu, Jun 26, 2008 at 8:47 AM, Simon P. RE: [on-asterisk] dryloop dsl 911 service
I believe it is truly phone-service free but that may depend on the actual carrier. - dbc. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Simon P. Re: [on-asterisk] dryloop dsl 911 service
Umm I can tell you that all Bell Dryloops that we have ever sold have always had dialtone on them. The dialtone isn't usable for much other than dialling the ANAC number for identification, but dialtone is absolutely present (at least at the beginning). I'm not sure about 911. - Original Message - From: Liviu Toma [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: TAUG asterisk@uc.org Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2008 8:58 AM Subject: Re: [on-asterisk] dryloop dsl 911 service It doesn't. [on-asterisk] What traffic shaping works for you re:torrents
Arrgg!.. Teenagers and their torrents.. any suggestions? I need a traffic shaping solution. No too fond of firing up another server. Maybe a better router that also supports wireless. QOS; does diddly. Suggestions? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [on-asterisk] What traffic shaping works for you re:torrents
Linksys WRT54GS (I think the current model is WRT54GL) works great for me. Mind you I have installed DD-WRT firmware, and configured QOS based on MAC address. I include the MAC's for my external FXSs and FXOs and the * box. Without it, ftp downloads, torrents etc make VOIP unusable. With it, VOIP runs perfect even with high traffic. If you and/or teenagers are downloading torrents, you may with to increase your TCP connection table to at least 2048 connections. I'm using 3Megabit DSL here. Good luck. /M Syd Carter wrote: Arrgg!.. Teenagers and their torrents.. any suggestions? I need a traffic shaping solution. No too fond of firing up another server. Re: [on-asterisk] What traffic shaping works for you re:torrents
I'm still liking X-WRT for a router-based solution. QoS doesn't have a rule for VoIP out of the box, but it seems to work pretty well once you build the rule. -- David Cook Quoting Syd Carter [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Arrgg!.. Syd, I use the Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato firmware ( http://www.polarcloud.com/tomato ) at all my needed locations. Has the ability to lock down and control those pesky kids machines. Give SelfishNet http://www.creadev.net/?q=Selfishnet a try, it is a software solution that might work for you before you buy anything personally I have been using smoothwall but I loaded SelfishNet onto my laptop to give it a test drive some while back and seems to work well for me.
