I have a couple of small machines (home PBX) and run a (tiny) USB APC UPS
(nice set of TLA's!)...and love it.  Serial ports are so 90's!  :-  I am
running:
Debian Linux
X100P FXO card
...and apcupsd:
http://www2.apcupsd.com/
(on debian apt-get install apcupsd)
I like it because it can slave 1 (in my case) or more machines to the
apcupsd...so they all gracefully shut down when the UPS is on it's last
leg...and power back up (via BIOS settings) when power returns.  I have it
(apcupsd) setup to email my cell phone when it goes on battery, shuts down
or power returns...cute.  I looked into this daemon because friends of mine
who work under SLA's with big machines and BIG APC UPS's use it and are
happy...can't beat that with a stick.
