Follow-up Comment #2, bug #38951 (project avrdude):

What's impressive is that this bug is here since the beginning of the project,
but what the code was doing was to send a A 00 00 then send in a while() all
the data by after. Auto-incrementing doing its job.

It's only since SVN1007 that the bug surfaced.
