RE: [backstage] A sekrit from Virgin Radio

2006-10-30 Thread Kim Plowright

Id be interested to know the technical
set-up behind Virgin and the BBCs last.fm pages though (i.e. how the track data
gets from the playout system to the last.fm page) Id gather its not as
simple ashooking up the
last.fm player to whatever you use for your playout I use the audioscrobbler
plugin for Winamp but Id gather your set-up(s) are somewhat more complex than
mine!

We have asuper lady called Elsie who types out in
tripliacte the names of all of the beat combos as they play out from '78. The
Pink copy is filed with the BH librarians, who stamp the counterfoil and
authorise the T109-D form procedure; the yellow copy is sent to theMusic
(modern, repetitive)Playout Reporting Unit (third class) for record
keeping; the blue copy isthen sent via registered post to the
BBC's ENIAC installation in Surrey, from where it is set out to 'the
  Last.fm internet reception station'via a series of
  tubes.

Look - there's a picture of her at the bottom of this page: http://www.bbc.co.uk/heritage/story/ww2/lifebbc.shtml

Thanks to some unexpectedly investigative reporting by the
famously inebriated Jim 'Drunken' Campbell, a fourth set of
green copies was recently discovered in the basement of
Reith Wetherspoon's Parrot and Cheese Shop in the remote
Welsh village of Llanmannager.

The green slips are all labelled 'Blitz Avoidance Copy
Kept Until Peacetime', and are apparently carried clandestinely
via the only route from London that avoids every bridge,
railway line and transport cafe.

[backstage] Witty slogan and design for Backstage T-shirts

2006-10-30 Thread Ian Forrester
Hi All,

We're considering changing the Fabulous but somewhat bland Backstage T-shirts.
Yes there great London Schwag but we can certainly do better.

So we thought it would be great if we'd ask you guys what you think is the best
T-shirt schwag you've seen or owned and what witty slogan or design should be
included to make a even better backstage T-shirt?

If you've not seen one of our Fabulous T-shirts, here's the basic design -

---
My instant thoughts is that Yahoo's Mash up or Shut up T-shirts are great -
http://flickr.com/photos/jojojo/110959258/

But the Microformats T-shirts are very exclusive schwag which everyone wants -

Erm, not me doh!

Ideas to float the goat:

1. Backstage - Craic Stage (the internet should be about fun as well as
other things)
2. Backstage - Craic Sage (having fun but wise)
3. Backstage - Crack Stage (as in the first above, but also covers the idea
of cracking problems on the net and making things work)
4. Backstage - Crack Sage (as in the second and third above)
5. Backstage - Front of House (backstage makes the net work)
6. Backstage - Front of Mind (backstage makes the net work)
7. Backstage - Backlit (the work of backstage is backstage but it casts
light on the net)
8. Jumble up the letters of backstage into something like STACK B AGE AGE
B CATS K CATS BAKE G CABS GATE K SCAB TAKE G BECK A STAG and
underneath write: web.2 and then, if you need to, in tiny letters add
backstage.

Another other meanings of crack are inadvertent.

You probably can't use this one:

But I'd wear it :)

ROFL!

That Tshirt is so funny! I had a good laughing fit looking at it, my
wife wondered what the heck I was laughing at (being American I guess
she's never seen the mash robots).

I swear if those robots were out of copyright, we would so get them on a
T-shirt...

LOL
