It seems to me that the code used by diary and calendar for these things is unnecessarily complicated (duplicating code) such that, in particular, it becomes difficult to feed things such as BBDB anniversaries into the algorithm for marking the calendar. I still do not understand, I use (require 'bbdb-anniv) (add-hook 'list-diary-entries-hook #'bbdb-include-anniversaries) In my 2.35 bbdb version and I do see the anniversaries marked in the calendar.
