Hi all! To be honest, I was hoping to get more feedback on what the
 translators want,

Just to throw a suggestion out there, how about sponsoring a batch of
PC keyboards (PS2/USB) with Probhat layout etched on them? I don't
know how much it costs to do that, but I'm sure its not beyond your
benevolence. Those keyboards can then be provided free to the
translators, and also perhaps to end-users at cost.

I am not entirely opposed to the idea, i think its a very good idea. I
would need to know the cost of the keyboard and I will link the keyboard
to the number of strings translated .. i.e., translate 500 strings and
get a free keyboard or something like that.

[Ankur-core] Prize money for Ubuntu Translations

2006-04-10 Thread Ershad Shafi Chowdhury

Dear All,

After discussion with Jamil, we have decided to encourage translators by
offering cash incentives. We propose making it work this way :

1. For every new 15,000 strings translated (total from all translators),
we will look for the best translator
2. Taka 5,000 will be awarded to the person who submitted most strings
with 95% or greater accuracy

3. Prize money to be collected from BOL office in Gulshan

What do you all think?

regards,
-iru

PS. Funds are coming from my personal account.

Is it Ubuntu specific? Or is it also applicable to Kubuntu?
In any case, it sounds encouraging. Hope, Bengali in
ubuntu will have greater support because of your efforts!

I believe I'll get the job through Jamil Bhai and he will monitor the
progress. So if he don't do any partiality for me [though he is my so
called DULABHAI ;) ] you'll get the exact progress number. :)
