Fw: response to newspaper ad for Berner puppies in North Dakota (2nd try in plain text)
I apologies to the group for sending e-mail not in plain text - I have attempted to reset the computer to plain text format= Please feel free to ignore the prior messages that some cannot read - or delete LeAnn Zogg North Dakota A suggestion for Bernese Dog lovers to consider. Last week while reading the paper I noticed Bernese Mountain Dog puppies advertised in our classified section. There are not many Berners or Breeders in the Dakota area. Most of us know each other, know the breeders and dogs. It seemed unusual that someone would need to try selling their puppies through the paper due to long waiting lists, etc. It indicated they were AKC, but there was no mention of health histories, or other information. The phone number was not from our area, thus it peeked my curiosity and concern - who and why would puppies be sold by an out of state person through the paper. I did not wish to offend the person advertising the pups, but I was concerned and contacted the area BMD club officers and the National BMDCA for advice and direction. As an owner, I was getting calls from friends in the area wondering about the dogs and breeder listed in the paper. Based upon the advice from Robin Hamme, PR Chair and Rep for BMDCA, we placed an add which encouraged people interested in Bernese Mountain Dogs/puppies to contact the web site for the club. www.BMDCA.org. Bernese Mountain Dogs/pups. BMDCA breeder referrals. Find facts, tips and contacts at www.BMDCA.org. We can help. The purpose was to get the information out to people to be informed before they buy. There are far too many health issues, puppy mills, and other issues regarding our breed. It is my hope that by placing this ad in major city papers throughout the state, people will go to the site and become informed about the breed and hook up with responsible breeders. I cannot speak to the integrity of the person placing the ad, nor would it be appropriate to do so. But I strongly believe that buyers must be informed and that as a member of BMDCA, it is my small effort to work hand in hand with our area and national officers to educate people. Call it a grass roots effort if you will. Robin asked me to share with you the steps we took to respond to a newspaper ad. I would like to invite and encourage all of us to watch our papers, pet stores, etc. where puppies are sold and use what is at your disposal to educate people about our beautiful breed. new berner -
Hi all, I've been asked to update you how the new girl at our house is going with our entlebucher... They are like an old married couple just after three weeks. They are the best of friends, go everywhere together, hate to be apart, sumo-Swiss wrestle, share their water, bones, toys, and sleeping favorite spots. She likes to cuddle, and he likes to be the boy on the go. They train totally opposite of one another, both sleep at my feet and occasionally argue over the goofiest stuff - just like my kids. I would say it is going well - now if I could learn to like sweeping. Another great thing about taking another dog - my husband spent $ on a new vacuum that will actually pick up the hair! I sweep - but at least I can do more than blow it around the room! Take care and all have a great day. LeAnn, family, Caspar and Ursa

Fw: feminine ways
Hi, Oh is the new girl at our house is a smart one - the little flirt She is trying all sorts of ways to get Caspar to play with her - and she is almost there... She twirls her tail in his face, lays with her nose near his, jumps around him like tigger from Winnie the Pooh, lays in the grass and tries to make herself flat as the grass (that is funny), then pounces as he passes by her, runs for his ball then circles wide, barks and yips as he takes off running, He just doesn't know what to do about her. He starts to play and chase, then stops suddenly, lifts his tail picks up his ball and runs the other way. If she doesn't follow, then he turns around and looks for her. I think tonight she overwhelmed him, he finally picked up his ball and went into the house. She looked at me then went running after him and they both left me standing alone in the back yard with all the rest of the toys. Then they barked at ME? because I was still outside KIDS WHATEVER DO YOU DO WITH THEM??? Never a dull moment... The neighbors and school and church and the dog club have all figured out that Capsar did not grow long hair overnight - but that we have another dog Yes, I like long hair Yes, I know she has big feet (so did the person asking) Yes, I know she sheds - (so did the person asking) Yes, I know she will eat alot (so did the person asking) Yes, I know she looks like a Berner - SHE IS. Yes, I know she looks like my other dog - HE would differ in opinion... Yes, I know I should sweep every day -0 I'm saving it for a sweater... Yes, I know that you're glad she lives at my house and not yours - (we are glad you live at your house also) And we wonder why our dogs smile. LeAnn Zogg Pax and Paws
our house has more fur and bigger feet tonight
We got home safe and sound - all happy as can be... The Sweet little female Berner is working on Capsar with all her feminine charm - so he'll accept her..just like watching two kids on a date.she eggs him on, he tried to be stand offish - barks at her - she jumps around like a puppy in play bow and thunders after him --- then he barks and she takes off... not quite up to run and chase - but they are tolerating each other... She went with me to get my hair cut tonight - everyone loves her...!! Including Don!! She flashed her big brown eyes, leaned up against him and I'm sure I heard her say - please... and he's said sure honey - anything you want She feel asleep in my lap tonight while I was reading a book. Caspar is alittle put out with me this evening, but he'll be fine and in a few days they will be the best of buddies Going well LeAnn
Evaluation of Berner update
Hi all, Thank you everyone for the suggestions for evaluation of the Berner and advice.. I used every bit of it... Well, we've fallen in love with her ourselves - are you surprised?? We are going back again this week and getting the dogs together on neutral turf to watch behavior and access suitability. Both myself and the breeder want to be certain that this will be a life long placement. AT this point it looks good - it simply feels right.can't explain it beyond that (you're all nodding because you know what I'm talking about)... If everything falls into place she should be here on Saturday So I'm shopping!!! - have second kennel, new dish, toys for BOTH dogs, bed, etc etc.first dog thinks he's in heaven - Mom is dog-toy shopping and I get new stuff too...maybe this GIRL won't be so bad after all.
